My pup keeps bloody growing like crazy.
We booked air tickets to go to Qtown a while back and decided to fly the dog with us. Since booking he has outgrown the travel crate we had and is now over the weight we had booked. Going to cost us at check in!On the good side he has great taste

Just to bring it all down a notch, my 12 year old Jack Russell bitch died of natural causes this morning. Law of the jungle says she should have gone years ago, but nature couldn't keep this one down🙂
Hell of a hunter who survived being run over, having a stillborn removed ( half in, half out, yeesh!), snake bites and a million dogfights with street dogs. Clever wee bugger but never to be trusted alone around kids as they were just bigger prey to her ( sort of).
Greatest thing having a cool dog. Worst thing is outliving them all the time.
Please give your own dog an affectionate pat for me 🙂👍

Great looking pooch mate. Our black lab now has two slight scars on his snout and one on his lip we’re hoping will not be permanent. Got tagged by a staffie on the beach the other day. Bloody thing had apparently had a go at a puppy only moments before. The damn owners couldn’t give a fuck, well she couldn’t and her beta-cuck husband just complied. Owners. It’s rarely the dog but always something to do with the owners. fluffybunnies.

Yeah there are plenty of dickwads with dogs.
I especially like the ones that watch their mutt run 50 metres at you while you are putting yours on a lead so it doesn’t do similar.
Mine is pretty good and going well on training but still has a 6 month olds brain and can let excitement get the better of him. It’s my responsibility to watch for that and keep control. Doesn’t help when other fuckers do nothing -
@Crucial Recall is the one to crack, we’re virtually there. Still have to pick our moment though. Ms Cato No1 was talking to a guy who trains guide dogs and he was stressing that you should not waste a whistle. Effectively when training set the dog up to succeed. So if it’s got its snout in some Fox piss soaked grass, don’t bother. Wait until it’s head is up and looking around. It must get used to obeying the whistle/command in order to become ingrained.
Getting there.

I use graduated recall commands depending on the situation. A simple “come”, calling his name, a quick “non urgent “ whistle from the lips, A firm “get in” and very sparingly the shepherds whistle gets a Blast. All are accompanied by praise as soon as he reacts
Is working good for this one. He certainly knows it’s in his best interests to get in fast if the whistle comes out.
Best thing though is to praise them every time you notice them think and change mind without you commanding. Let them make good decisions by themselves as much as possible. Also means you actually try not to call too much. They have to feel like they’ve come back for a reason.
I was told all that from a good friend with decades experience training working dogs and now runs puppy classes.
Personally I think a lot depends on the dog and you need to try and find the right formula for them.

Heart-breaking news, Siam. Gutted for you. I love our two dogs and when the mother died a few years back, I broke down in the Kitchen, I was so distraught. I will be a wreck when these two go.

Looking good.
Mine is having some time running with the working dogs to let them put him in his place.
Going through a teenage phase at the moment and choosing when he wants to listen. -

@Catogrande
A couple of hours in the crate on the back of the Ute made him understand that he wasn’t quite as shit hot as he thought
He’s pretty good, just being a teenager and breaking the rules every now and then. Makes you feel like the training has been useless but I have been told it’s just a phase and he’ll decide himself what makes an easier life. But then he’ll be cutesy and you forget what a shit he was 30 minutes before

Yep. Our wee bitch did a teenage phase and the wife fought her all the time (lots of shouting) but she has completely calmed down now, and the dog is also much better.
The dog has never fought with me and when we took her to training the bloke running it said that dogs are "sizeist" and the bigger that you are they are more likely to listen to you, or be aggressive if you are a threat. I had never heard that before.

So if the dog listens to the wife over the husband is the dog saying she's fat? That's a risky ole line to walk for any creature.

Tall mate, tall. Never, ever fat. Then there is the aggression thing, probably from both parties.
