Quick google search (FBI will be after me now), the amount used in the Oklahoma explosion was around 4000 pounds or less then 2 tons...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Tianjin_explosions
On August 12, 2015, a series of explosions killed 173 people, according to official reports, and injured hundreds of others at a container storage station at the Port of Tianjin.[2] The first two explosions occurred within 30 seconds of each other. The second explosion was far larger and involved the detonation of about 800 tonnes of ammonium nitrate (336 tons TNT equivalent).[3] Fires caused by the initial explosions continued to burn uncontrolled throughout the weekend, resulting in eight additional explosions on 15 August. Of the 173 fatalities, 104 were firefighters..

And with a massive air gap it still inflicted all that damage. (shock waves take the path of least resistance).
Beirut's ANFO blast reminds me of the Mont Blanc in Halifax Harbour in 1917. That was an explosion!

He had a heap of other chemicals as well, from the sounds of it he planned a much bigger bomb but was unable to get all that he needed. Again the FBI will be wondering why I know all that...

Incredible pictures. Massive explosion. Reminded me of footage I've seen of WW1 mines going off or warships blowing up,, but bigger. The blast could be heard and felt in Cyprus apparently.
Lots of injured. My sympathy to all affected. It will be a big humanitarian challenge now to make sure the city gets enough food and functions. Nearly a million Syrian have ended up in Lebanon.
There will obvious need to be a thorough investigation into the cirumstances that led to the explosion.

The analysis in this Twitter thread correlates the observed degree of damage with the distance from the explosion. It comes up with an estimated 240 tons TNT-equivalent, though naturally this comes with a considerable margin of error.
...
This Twitter thread is making the point that the explosiveness of ammonium nitrate can vary significantly depending on how it is stored. 2750 tons of AN at 20% efficiency gives 550 tons TNT.
...
This range is also apparently consistent with the explosion registering as a 3.5 seismic magnitude.
...
There are still a great many unknowns, and none of this should be mistaken for the real analysis which will come later, but these disparate sources of information all seem to agree with each other, to a first approximation.. -
Some insane footage out there
Number 5 or 6 I think it is is brutal.

@antipodean really? i thought someone said it was only last year, storing something so obviously dangerous for that long...wow

The article I posted says apparently the authorities were told it was dangerous but did nothing. Oops

pretty sure an article I read indicated port authorities had been warning of the risk for many years??
