The BBC video of the protester shooting is conveniently cut. You don't see what appears to be a molotov thrown at him by the first victim (who has since been revealed to be a registered paedophile..and literally filmed a few minutes earlier telling a milia person to "shoot me nigga!"). You don't see Kyle calling 911 to help him. You don't see the 2nd victim (another felon) trying to hit Kyle over the head with a skateboard. (who at this point had tripped over trying to run away from the mob). You don't see the 3rd victim make a run at Kyle (still on the ground after multiple attacks) with a glock pointed at him when Kyle shot him in the arm. And you also don't see Kyle immediately try to hand himself in to the police (They order him out of the way and drive by...)
Get the absolute fuck out with this shit.
This kids arms himself with a semi automatic weapon and heads down town to get amongst it. He ends up in various scuffles (wow, who would have thought it) and kills 2 people and injures another.
He is a murderer and will go to jail.
So this kid goes out of his way to court trouble, kills 2 and injures 1, and when the cops go to get him he doesn't even get shot, not even once? Regardless of the histories of Floyd and this latest shooting, black people will look at this and see hypocrisy and prejudice that has existed in the US for hundreds of years and still today. Regardless of the peripheral consequences like rioting, which are criminal acts that should be punished, there are genuine grievances here
Yeah, its obviously speculation as to what might have happened if the kid was black, but the way he puts his hands back on his gun a couple of times as he walks towards them is pretty wild. Certainly doesn't seem to be advisable in the current climate!

I doubt it. There's sufficient video that can purport to show his actions are in response to others.
What is clear is people have lost the plot in America.

Laws and evidence be damned? There isn't here (assuming you're not in the states) open carry is a thing over there. As is citizens and militia protecting property from nightly riots.
I agree jail is probably on the cards but it won't be for murder (unless there is some more evidence that isn't being floated around) likely to be for bringing a weapon across state lines or purchasing a weapon when underaged. From what I understand you can have one at 16 but not purchase it.

Come on. You cant be claiming this goes anywhere near self-defense?
You take a semi automatic weapon downtown into the heart of civil unrest and youre going to find trouble. He did, and he killed 2 people.
It doesn't matter that the mob was burning and looting (if they were), that's none of his business as a citizen. You can't go vigilante whenever you want. Those criminals should be dealt with by those with authority
He may not feel the full force of the law because of his age, by he fucking well should.

Law be damned? No, he'll get his trial.
Evidence be damned? No, everything we have seen plus more (I'd imagine) will surface and it will all be assessed. But on the face of what I have seen, he has murdered 2 blokes. He took it upon himself to arm himself and put himself in the heart of all that craziness. I dont see any argument for self defence there.

Yeah. Lets not act like this was a home invasion and he shot in self defence. I don't think open carry means take your gun into town with intent. It would appear he was more than prepared to use it

You're right, those criminals should be dealt with by those with authority. Crazy seeing people's homes and businesses being burnt to the ground with no police in sight to bring some order to the situation.
The States is an absolute basket case at the best of times, but shit's getting out of hand now.

The Yanks live a good riot don't they? The majority of people involved have nothing to do with the real cause, they are only concerned about creating mayhem.
I watch a lot of ESPN, and I have never seen a situation like we have now, where athletes across all the major sports won't play in protest. They are being supported by ex-players and activists like Bill Russell. There is genuine pain and anger here, and massive frustration. They all feel there is injustice and I have no reason not to believe them
-
What I still haven't really seen from the athletes and any other figures of prominence, is a clear direction in terms of what they want to see. Protest is one thing, but what's the end goal? It can't just be "justice". What does "reform" look like? Surely not just defunding the police?

The ones I've seen and heard, are asking for fair and equal treatment from the police, Mike Wilbon put it simply "stop shooting people." Easier said than done but that's the sentiment

Yep, and it's also not a long term thing - I mean, do they start playing Saturday, but stop immediately if there is another shooting? Then start again after a period, then stop again if there is another one? Sounds like someone we knows solution to Covid outbreaks...
I'd also like to see them condemn some of the looting and destruction. Encourage more protest for sure, but not like this.
And its hard, but they have to be a little selective over who/what incidents they get up in arms about. There are definitely different sides to some of the recent incidents, and some of the deaths could have been avoided with some simple compliance.

I am not about to say that policing must be an almost impossible task in the US right now, or that these guys did not behave in a way that contributed to the prospect of them being shot. But it still doesn't absolve the police of what is happening. They also feel that there is a historical lack of accountability on the part of the authorities when one of their own shoots a black person. I've heard it said more than once, that they believe that the problems with conduct are a result of years of that lack of accountability, that officers can shoot a black person and know there will more than likely not be a case to answer, and that there is even less chance of prosecution let alone a guilty verdict

I haven't seen footage of his apprehension. Voodoo made this comment though. Floyd wasn't exactly resisting, and it didn't stop the cop kneeling on his throat
