@Victor-Meldrew Your number came in -- TIER ONE!!!
Yep, the luck of the Cornish. If I was a bit closer to the Tamar I’d pop over for a pint(with no accompanying substantial meal). 😤
Pur dha! Kernow yn Tier onan yw nowydth splann!
Just hope we get usual sensible people spending Christmas in Cornwall rather than some of the dumb people we had over summer.
Present company excepted, I hope!

There was real & genuine concern about the way some people behaved and there was a big worry about a huge rise in infections.
Some acted like utter cockwombles. These weren't the usual visitor types, I might add

A mate called them the carparkers. Never went further along the beach than 50 yards from their cars!

What I gleaned from that was Cornwall is in tier one. You can have a Korev from St Austell Ales?

When you're part of Dumnonia what do you expect?
-
Pretty much spot on
-
I'm talking about the dumb bastards who came to Cornwall having tested positive for Covid or the twats who refused to obey distancing rules.
The later forced the shutdown of a number of places for safety reasons killing off a lot of income fo seasonal businesses.

Magaluf's loss was Cornwall's gain. Pity they weren't served some 'ripe' mussells?!

As the UK starts to show some pretty clear signs of improvement in the numbers from the second wave, the Taffs have decided to up the ante and booze can not be served in licensed venues ....
Oh and all restaurants / pubs have to close at 6pm.
Hows this going down @MiketheSnow ?

@MajorRage I was going to ask the same. I just can’t see the rationale at all. It’s basically saying you can all go out and mix but none of you are adult enough to be allowed a beer as well. Ludicrous.

I personally think it’s just a dig at Boris. Trying to show how it should be done or something stupid like that.

After posting that I was in convo with a friend that runs a restaurant and it seems we’re not that much more sensible here in Tier 2 England. Apparently she can serve alcohol with the well publicised substantial meal but when you’ve stopped eating that’s it. Go home. Unless of course you want coffee or a soft drink and then you can stay all bloody day long. Seems we’re not grown up enough either.

That is ludicrous. Just leave a chip on your plate, say that you haven't finished and order another 5 pints. What has alcohol got to do with any of it?
The only thing that I can think of is the pissed guy that says "love you man" and gives you a hug that you don't want, and social distancing goes out the window.

Massive misread on my part! Cannot be served!! I thought it was like the 60's in NZ where you go and get smashed after work before the pubs closed at 6

Comedy Gold 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Going down like the Hindenburg.
Absolute fucking joke.
Dumford & Sons saying hospitality the main vector for the spread in Wales so shutting it down.
High profile pub chain saying show us the evidence and numbers. Nada.
Firebreak has done little to curb the R rate hence the measures from Friday.
All that’s going to happen is more people drinking and socialising at home where there is zero social distancing and no track & trace.
But magically on 23 December we’ll all be set free to do the last minute Christmas shop, spend Christmas Day with family and friends, then go beserk in Boxing Day sales only for it all to be locked down again on 28th.
Farce.
-
@MiketheSnow I certainly get that some hard unpopular decisions have to be made.
But an alcohol ban in open licensed premises is appalling.

As per above, I completely misread it. I read it as can be served until 6 pm

I just watched a bloody good show called 'Saving Britain's Pubs'.
Business was already very tight before Covid.
Covid hit and they limped along with the help of their communities supporting by buying takeout and diversifying. Plus the presenter had some good suggestions.
The show ended on a high note where it looked as if the profiled pubs had survived.
Problem was, that was back in July.......... -
UK approves the Pfizer/Biontech vaccine.
Immunisations could start within days for people in high priority groups.
The UK has already ordered 40m doses - enough to vaccinate 20m people, with two shots each.
Around 10m doses should be available soon, with the first doses arriving in the UK in the coming days.
NZ likely to get it end of March, IIRC.
