Kenny
Bloody great feel good movie for Xmas Eve.
4 one inch pipes out of 5 the future looks pretty bleak.
Even better that Bonesetta thought it was a documentary.
A bunch of guys I worked with did too. Must watch it again sometime, I remember it being quite the laugh

Rickman was so, so good.

The Devil All The Time
Netflix has this, but apparently it had a cinema release. Touted as a "Psychological Thriller", I prefer to label it "Indulgent Twaddle".
Director wanted to try and make a serious, slow-paced film with a lot of violence and suggestion of tits, and pretty much got all that.
Set in good ol' god-fearing West Virginia, yet populated with a good crop of non-American actors (Tom Holland, RPatz, some Aussie burd), this is shit except for some decent acting by Holland and some above average cinematography.

Eye of the Beholder
The Good: It stars Ashley Judd.
The Bad: She's supported by these blokes; Ewan McGregor, k.d. Lang and Jason Priestley. The plot is near absent. The script is pathetic. The direction is terrible, where it exists.
As with many movies, the Europeans did it better first. See Mortelle Randonnée
Even for an Ashley fan, this is difficult to watch.

Excuse me for a minute while I post a rant about pedants in the Grumpy Old man thread....

Watched a ton of movies recently (lockdown etc) .... Here we go
Home Alone
Bit of a classic really, few laughs for the kids and a bit of light entertainment for the parents
5 for the kids out of 5 for the kids
Home Alone 2.
Kevin MacAllisters parents deserve to lose him. One fuck up is unbelievable, but two is downright negligence. Deserve to be stripped. Movie is ok, but it's basically a reboot of the same old stuff from the first.
3 for the kids out of 3 for the kids
The Bourne Legacy
I really enjoyed this film, right up until the end. Proper Bourne story, proper Bourne action and dialogue until the Manila street chase. Which just goes on and on (and those who have been to Manila know how bullshit it is that you could even have a street chase in that permanent traffic jam!) And then it ends. Really good film until the last 30 mins
3.5 Moving Traffic in Manila out of 5 Whatever Trevor!!!
Quantum of Solace
Saw this a few years ago and didn't find it memorable. Second viewing, much the same sort of view. Decent, but not amazing flick. Not patch on the bond movies either side of it (Casino Royale & Skyfall)
3 Can't out of 5 Remembers
Back To the Future 2
Pretty shitty movie really, easily the worst of the trilogy. Future stuff was just harebrained and seeing MJF running around back in 1955 was far too confusing for the kids.
2.5 Ooo Laa Laa's out of 5 Rehydrating Pizza's (why isn't this a thing yet btw as it makes perfect sense)

GReenland - Gerrard Butler, Morena Baccarin
A disaster movie, where a comet is hurtling past earth but plenty of its fragments hit earth with one that is to cause an extinction level event.
Was ok, 2 hours long, I prefer post apocolyptic stuff as opposed to apocolyptic stuff, so would be good if they had ditched some of the pointless stuff and added some of the post event stuff too!
3 hammers to the head out of 5 near misses

Speaking of Gerard Butler. I watched Angel is Fallen yesterday. Not sure why (weather sucks in Sydney at the moment), I think the other two Fallen movies are utter crap. This is the best of the trilogy, not great, not even good, average but watchable.
The Midnight Sky: George Clooney directed and acted sci fi movie. Better than the reviews it's getting although there are certain parts of the storyline you can actually 100% see where it's going. I would have liked to have seen it on the big screen (it's a Netflix release).

Space walk scene and subsequent interior cinematography as good as it gets.
The rest was cinematic Mogadon.
1 wasted 2hrs out of 5

He’s actually utterly shite and has about as much range as a cork gun.

Watched Mulan 2020 on Disney+ tonight. I thought it was a very good film. Cinematography showcased NZ, strong acting and good action. 4 warrior women out of 5 sorceresses
We bought that for the kids yesterday. All 3 loved it and the 7yr old lad backed up with a 2nd viewing same day with me and the missus.
Agree was good
