@JK surely they wouldn't be dumb enough to hold results back, far too easy for a leak and Govt. look like they are hiding stuff (people suspect it anyway)
They were announcing negative results outside the usual 1pm window, so in theory, if they got a positive they could too?
Yesterday thier 1pm info didnt hit media until 1.20 or so, in the current climate, people are rightfully concerned (health and economy) they need to be providing consistency of message.
From an hour ago on Stuff:
Coronavirus: Ashley Bloomfield says he wasn't told of any new cases overnight
Director-General of Health Dr. Ashley Bloomfiled said he wasn’t told of any new Covid-19 community cases overnight, giving some hope that the Ministry of Health will report another day of no new community cases.
Bloomfield told RNZ this morning that he’s usually called overnight by officials if there is a positive test, giving him confidence there weren’t new cases reported overnight.
Other health data was also looking positive, Bloomfield said.
“What we are, is reassured that there hasn’t been any onward transmission from our current cases, the other thing of course we’re really looking for is because we’re not sure exactly where this infection has come from is, ‘are there any parallel chains of infection out there in the community’,” Bloomfield said.

Irrespective of how this pans out we have got way too complacent. On my evening perambulate yesterday I saw lots of people marching in and out of shops without scanning or wearing a mask. Plus shop staff the same. One guy had a massive tanty at Countdown and got quite aggressive to staff refusing to sign in. They let him in!

Our success is largely luck. Having said that I think the majority are trying to do their bit. Most people I saw on my supermarket visit yesterday seemed to be using masks and scanning

Yeah you'd think so but we will see. I'd much rather the person who told me just got it all wrong or something.
I don't actually follow the likes of stuff, newshub or nz herald too closely so will probably rely on others to tell me once or if something is reported.

@JK During the Pullman cases last month I was told by someone who would not lie or exaggerate that they had a client who told them she had tested positive and so had to cancel an appointment. My contact said they believed the client as she would not make that up - yet clearly she did
@nzzp During our first lockdown my partners mother was in Waitakere Hospital while they had active cases and staff treating her weren't masked. They said it was due to isolating nursing staff from one another but seemed strange at the time

Yep I reckon it could be a bit of that indeed!

@Smudge not to mention whatever way you cut it, to sections of the public, this will look like a failure of our border control.
Even if there are no more positives today/tomorrow, I think at best Auckland will move to L2 and rest of country likely to remain there too.

Masks require a lot of changing and manufacturing - if there's no Covid-19 in a facility, masks don't do anything other than reducing the number of masks in stock and taking time to replace them. That said, issues in first lockdown aren't easily comparable to now as there was a shortage of PPE then and a lot more knowledge of Covid-19 prevention now.
My understanding of the daily MoH update is that it's mostly based on yesterday's figures as the figures are taken from the ESR database at 9am, so can be overtaken by current reporting of positive results.

I'm hoping for L2 on Thursday. At least I can work then

Plasma donation for me yesterday. All donors and staff wore masks so it seems strange if hospitals don't have the same policy currently.

The A&E clinic I work at has a masks for everyone except young kids policy. I'm surprised this wasn't a minimal standard at hospital

So no new community cases to report...

@JK i think its getting the close contacts in to take the test that is the delay? Or was i the case in Northland for some.
They prob go to a different testing centre too rather than the side of the road drive by ones that i keep threatening to pull in to whenever I drive past and have the kids in the car

It will be great if that family are the only three cases, though the subsequent political discussions of putting the whole country up one or two alert levels could be interesting. Especially as levels didn't change for the recent Northland case or for that second family affected from the Pullman.
