Surely you're a good shot at getting home for Xmas though - surely!!!
1 year ago today that I left Bali for a 4 week holiday in NZ - I remember in April thinking the bubble would be open by June, then July, then....nek minnut, here we are!

well mate, let's see
I have been pretty supportive of the Government so far, think they have done about as well as can be expected
However, to date, 182,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered since that little old lady and Scotty from Marketing got theirs. 66th in the world.
Not one single person fully vaccinated
At this rate we won't get a jab before 2022. Is this a massive fuck up that is being hidden by the reporting of the appalling culture in Canberra?

It's not as if they didn't have time to plan it.
Saw something about Stage 1B registration system crashing ... but haven't gone looking further

Doesn't help that we seem pegged to the AZ vaccine either, I haven't heard much about the Pfizer one for a while?
-
The EU also stopped the export of a whole lot of doses didn't they, thats has to have an effect
-
Australia vaccinated their first person about two weeks ahead of NZ, and in turn we are ahead of South Korea: https://thediplomat.com/2021/02/why-south-korea-still-hasnt-vaccinated-anyone/ - an interesting read from four weeks ago. The relatively more successful nations seem to be towards the back of the queue for allocations?

Also, in first world problems, the Virgin lounges suck balls at the moment. "Due to Covid" they only have cereal and muffins for breakfast. And they only allow you to go in outbound and not inbound like normal.
Hmmm, maybe I should have posted this in the grumpy old man thread.

"Due to Covid"
Corporate talk for "cost cutting".

Have I misinterpreted that? That's normal for Virgin? Most airlines only allow you into the lounge with a boarding pass for an upcoming outbound flight (along with transit of course which is still outbound).
Otherwise see the above re cost cutting.

Virgin have always allowed it domestically. I usually stop in for a coffee at Melbourne before heading into the city. I used to to do it at Gold Coast airport for lunch when I was travelling up there for work.

@nepia Not surprised that they stopped that then, bloody freeloaders every where... had I known they would have stopped it earlier.
I will try and go to drink the bar dry at ANZ ZQN lounge next week on arrival (fully expecting to be told to fuck off).

Hey, it's one of things that stops me fucking off to Qantas.

Phase 1B.
Am apparently eligible (as I've mentioned ad nauseum ... underlying health).
Went on the Govt eligibility checker which confirmed, and then directed me to the two local vaccine clinics.
No available appointments. Am not sure how far on advance they're booking though.
According to the list elsewhere on the site there are six locally. But only two came up on the booking system.
Not trying desparately hard to get a jab, yet, but now am eligible I may as well.
-
Booked my jab for tomorrow.
Did the eligibility checker thing again which this time showed all 6 local clinics. Chose the one next to work. Rang (they didn't do on line bookings) and tried to make a booking with the rather abrupt admin.
Had to get a health summary from my GP, and fill out a new patient form, neither of which was hard.
Worst part was dealing with the deceptionists. As long as the doc or nursie stick the right stuff in my arm, and the astra zenecas as expected it's all good.
