not sure if this is the thread to stick this
"His application for registration with the QRL is being dealt with differently to anyone else who has ever sought registration for the Southport Tigers.
“Mr Folau’s now repudiated contract agreement with Catalans has nothing to do with the QRL.
“The QRL is not a party to it and has no rights under it. Likewise, the QRL has no right to discriminate against a player or seek to disadvantage such a player."
couple of things, yeah, it is probably a bit different, i doubt they often have overseas contracted players trying to sign with some local club
and im no lawyer but i would have thought it pretty normal for someone to avoid signing a contract that might be in breach of another contract
and finally, i didn't know you could just demand a professional league contract

It is.
The collision between Clive "The Hutt" Palmer's desperate need for publicity, and Folau's desperate need to change his loyalties at the drop of a hat (and publicity).

I have a strong dislike for Folau for a few reasons, and I thought there were very good grounds for RA sacking him, but I really struggle with the idea that he should be cancelled forever. There is so much more scum running around in all codes of football than him.
And the condition that QRL are seeking to impose around rep footy seems at odds with any sensible view of liberty. Imagine hiring a bloke into your company but telling him he's never allowed to progress past data entry. Ever. It's baked into his contract.
Bloody odd stuff.

He made his bed, he must lie in it.
I think that's what I meant to say, but I'm not sure I mean it.

@voodoo im not going to argue he should be cancelled for ever, I think it just says something about him that he was happy to sign a contract with with one of the only clubs in the world who would give him another shot...and then he skips out on them
I understand the condition, QRL want to be able to argue the contract isn’t competition with his dragons one, different levels

You reckon that's relevant? The contract point I mean. Are they at risk of being caught up in something? Seems a stretch?
As I said, I can't stand the guy. But I'm not ready to take away his right to work forever in his field

@voodoo they may not actually get caught up in it legally...but conversely they may just want to completely avoid it
And I get that. Their prerogative. But why go halfway and hire him but at the same time restrict his pathway?
Seems odd to me.
-
Nah he can fuck right off.
It's one thing to sue the ARU, but now a community sport organisation?
I'm not sure what he's trying to achieve. By taking this legal action he's probably hammered the final nail into the coffin that is his career in Australia. Which club would want to sign him now? You'd worry you'd end up in the High Court the moment someone mixed up his coffee order.
And being backed by Clive Palmer only makes things worse. Who wants to associate themselves with that fat chunt?

I find the reactions to Israel Folau completely intriguing.
He’s famous for many sporting achievements yet infamous for his views on a sector of the population we label as “homosexuals”. He’s vilified for tweeting a quote from a bible. Now he's pilloried for wanting to get a better work deal.
But the homosexual sinner thing got the ball rolling
We separate homosexuals from the other members of society, and we do it with an implicit certainty and with no shame. Actually the opposite, we almost revere them and definitely stick up for them at every opportunity and with empathy and compassion, (whether they ask for it or not).
So why do we separate them?
On what basis do we draw the line of separation from heterosexuals?
Yes, I’m writing yet another point of view that veers from group think and MSM messaging. So please sigh, think “contrary reductionist fuckwit, does he ever stop?” and go to another thread now with my blessing. 😊
Back to the question – on what basis do we ramp up the empathy for this separate group of the population - the LGBTQ population?
Let’s go through the normal mechanisms we use to divide and conquer empathise:
Hundreds of years of slavery? Nope
Colour of skin? Nope
Socio economic performance? Nope, (unless it’s because they overwhelmingly
perform better than heterosexuals)Physical disabilities? Nope
Mental disabilities? Nope
Religious persuasion? Nope
Inequality under the eyes of the law? Nope – (homosexual acts between
consenting adults has been a law in NZ since the 80’s – I remember it being
passed while in secondary school)Increased likelihood of being shot by police? Nope
Increased presence in jails? Nope (now now, don’t be prejudiced)
More likely to be on government benefits? Nope
Less access to education? Nope
Ethnic group? Nope
Because they’re not normal? Don’t you dare…😉
At risk from indiscriminate violence? Nope – not in 2021. New York Jews maybe but very few cases of “poofta bashing” these days
Hmmm, then what is the difference between homosexuals and heteros that means that we have to treat the two groups differently?
Well, as far as I can tell in 2021 with equal laws and near universal acceptance of the concept of homosexuality it’s only one thing:
We separate homosexuals from others simply, exactly and precisely on the grounds of where they want to put, and who they grant access to, their genitals.
Yep, that’s it. A whole social movement based on the undeniable fact of what people do with their private parts in the confines of their own homes.
Nothing else. The whole point of difference is what people do with a vagina or penis, compared to what other people do with their sex organs.
Horrible to put it like that isn’t it? But what other explanation is there? What other point of difference between homosexuals and the rest?
Why do we treat homosexuals differently and hold them to different standards? Obviously I don’t knowWe defend their honour against passages from religious texts. We create separate hiring policies for them. We label them as a “protected group”, a “vulnerable minority”. We showcase their differences in sexual desires. We illuminate their courage and braveness. All on the basis of what exactly?
How they have sex. It’s been an incredible marketing campaign. Even with logos, colours, a naturally occurring trick of light following a rain shower and separate laws of discrimination. You get cancelled for merely suggesting that homosexuals aren’t a vulnerable minority and are just people with different bedroom activities.
It’s incredible how bad faith actors have hijacked western psyches, and bloody impressive subversion.
Ian Roberts gets regarded differently to Simon Mannering.
The Qantas CEO gets regarded differently from the Emirates CEODiversity targets are met on the basis of what people do with their genitals and are then held up and showcased as a progressive step. A brave march forward. An end to genital usage bigotry.
Next board meeting at a gigantic corporation:
“Everyone, I’m excited to introduce our newest board member. In line with our diversity guidelines let me introduce Cheryl. (thunderous applause). As most of you know, Cheryl is a compulsive dildo user. (more applause). Despite suffering name calling and public harassment almost constantly, Cheryl has always identified as a dildo user and has always been true to what makes her sex organs feel better. She has fought back shame and discrimination and is proud that in the confines of her own home, she can unashamedly use a dildo for sexual gratification and knows that this company will not judge her in any way except for a vital voice of diversity and a meaningful contributor who will benefit our huge corporation. Obviously Cheryl replaces Paul who was toxic to our corporation when it was overheard that he stated he “felt uncomfortable performing oral sex on his wife”. (boo, hiss, outrage “toxic bigot!”). We can’t tolerate that sort of thinking here. So, I’m proud that our corporation focusses on true inclusiveness and that Cheryl has found a welcoming home for a dildo user. I know you agree, we are all stronger having Cheryl and her many dildos as part of our team”A whole social movement, a whole separate population group based solely on what they do with their rude bits.
No other distinguishing criteria. Crazy eh?
But yeah, Fuck Folau!!
Fucking Homophobe has the gall to want to change his job and use the law to test if he's allowed to!!

hate crimes
Cool.
Here's one from the Home Office in Britain showing who gets targeted most for hate crimes in Britain. Stats supplied by the home office. And, we're talking about hate crimes, or tattle telling. My point is what's the difference between a gay and a straight, and why is that so important in deciding individual virtue?

@bones yeah mate. Just curious why we separate guys from straights. Thought it was a genuine question.🙂
Hah I think I read the first couple of lines, then my jaw dropped as I scrolled and saw how much more there, so then I only caught the last line 😁 (the footy's on)
I really don't think this latest one is about the gays. I didn't give two shits about Folau and thought it was ridiculous people were getting upset that he said the flying spaghetti monster in the sky was cross with homos - but like @barbarian says, this is an utter dick move.
