I'm a pretty good player of both guitar and bass if I do say so myself, I can bash out a decent rhythm on the drums too. I think it's very easy to hear that "such and such" ( ahem Eric Clapton ) is one of the greats and as such adjust your awe levels to maximum in readiness before you hear him play. I know I did in the early 90s before actually forming opinions of my own. Hendrix justified the hype surrounding him and then some. EC never did to me from about 1992 onwards ( when I 'graduated' to learning songs from tablature on guitar mags, kids these days have it fucken easy compared to my day )

I might say "shit that's easy to play" or "shit that's hard to play" if we were to discuss a guitar lead or whatever but it's all your opinion at the end of the day.

I know that an AB or two has graced the fern but I think I'm safe to say the vast majority haven't marched out in the black jersey, a super rugby jersey or an NPC jersey. Doesn't stop people having their say on here.

Who said it was of no interest.

My comment was about the petty name calling over personal opinions on what will always be a subjective topic

I have a pretty eclectic taste in music - over 2000 albums in my collection in various formats and in a previous life was paid to review concerts and output so although I can't play the guitar I can still have a passion for the subject

Wouldn't talk in absolutes like some have though. Dick swinging is always pointless. -

As it turns out, I'm listening to Gorillaz (On Melancholy Hill) although admittedly I was listening to them more than 10 years ago, Arctic Monkeys, Daft Punk, Queens of the Stone Age, LCD Soundsystem, Rudimental, Awolnation. Five Finger Death Punch, etc.

Antipodean, you do realise most of those quoted bands were formed over ten years ago and some nearer twenty, don't you?

-
The question was music released in the last decade. Not my fault I already liked a bunch of them .

But Mark Knopfler wore a headband to try and alleviate the boredom at least and I say that as someone who was dragged along to the concert in 1991.

By default I find myself nodding along to the shit my sons listen to in the car that they know from when they do jump jam at school. It's very easy to point the finger at the crap of today but crap has been around since the beginning of time. Why 20 or so years ago shit like the Macarena, Barbie Girl and anything by the Vengaboys was polluting the airwaves and the clubs. It's just as bad as shit today only I'm older and grumpier.
