FatBusting : BartMan log.

fark Bartman!!!

I just worked it out that's a whopping 4.26 meters per second, I did a "sprint" the other night with Zara's session admitably at the end of a weights session and only did 500m in 2 1/2 mins that's 3.33 m/sec

Son you are on fire!!!! -
Sweet Bartman. Good shit. Just to put it in perspective, I just did a 15 min row and only managed 3525 metres. So at that pace if I completed 30 mins I'd only be 1128 metres behind! :2funny:

C'mon Willy even I did 500m sprint in 1 min 46.4 secs and I am pedestrian pace. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> -
Saturday morning:Â 5500Â Â Â 21:30.5

As Coastie says Willie, you should be able to do better than that!! Even after a workout you fat bastard!!

and todays row puts me over the 2 million metre mark for the season (May to May I think). 2000654 total metres. 5620 metres a day, 9094 metres average for actual days rowed.

Sitting on my arse for 129 hours : 29 minutes : 49.8 seconds! -
NEW RECORD - woohoo!!

30 minutes: 8288metres. Ave 1:48.6 / 500.

Heart rate for the 6 seconds finger on pulse 19 - so around 190ish. Was sure I wasn't going to die though, and here I am

Beat old record by 41 metres. -
Had row with the Bartman yesterday.

Found out technique has a heap to do with distance!!! Fat Willie was rowing about one and half rows to Bartmans one, yet was going distane wise backwards. LOL

Barty slowed me down and made me work harder on the back pulls, fark heaps more distance and a different workout cause you sortof get a rest on the way back in, as opposed to working both ways?

At the end was sweeting heaps which is all good either way.

End result Bartman way way over 5000 was too shy to look and Willie a pathetic 4311 at least an improved 3.59 m/sec -
Tuesday Row with Willie at MOUNT Baywaves gym thingy...

20 mintues 5341.

Wednesday Row 30 minutes 8224m 1:49.4 / 500 ave.

Must be getting fitter, as todays row was not a hard out attack, but found I was 'cruising' at 1:50 after the first ten minutes. Working hard, no doubt about it, but still within myself. Managed to sprint the last 2 minutes in about 1:43 / 500.

Sooo, going to give 10,000 a nudge, if can keep to that 1:50/500 mark, should get to 36:40 time, which is 57 seconds better than current PB.

So RedBeard, when Purvey was fit, reckon he would have caned that 1:50 for 40 minutes. Powerful bloke, would row with ease methinks. Running however.... :nta

Willie - your rowing ceratinly needs work mate - technique is where it is at, and that is where you isn't!!!! Practise rowing less strokes per minute at more power. Get to 2:00/500, and then hold it there as long as you can, at a slow stroke rate, then speed the rate up, and watch your /500 rate drop, as you will carry on rowing at the same power, but more SPM, and therefore faster. I reckon anyway!! -
morning row:Â 6000Â Â 23.01.9

Amazing how much different your rowing can be in the morning. Certainly forme the best time to row is after work - body ready for action - it was a genuine struggle this morning - maybe not that fit after all :nta. But do note mornings are always harder for me - weights in the early hours is just purgatory.

If I have time will try that 10k tonight. -
Back on deck - Monday row: 8000m 30:15.3

The new rowing season started - May to May, so will try and get a daily average better than last seasons, which was 5,500 odd.

Tuesday Afternoon Row: 10000m 37:58.5
Tuesday Evening: 5500m 21:27.3 -
Question - when you first started using the rowing machine, how long did it take for you to be able to row the long distances? Have been rowing for a while now, but very rarely do I feel I am actually capable of going past 2000m. Usually by this point, the HR is well over 170 & MR is completely fucked.

I usually go on about level 7 & get to 2,000m at about 8:30 - any tips on building this up? -
Maybe drop your speed and this should help you go for longer. Or try rowing 1000m then have a 2 minute rest and repeat three times. If all esle fails wait for Barts reply. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

slow down!!

think of the rate that you row 2000m in (say 1:50 / 500), and never ge below that - row at 2:00 / 500 for 5k (that'll give you 20 minutes).

Slow your stroke rate too - drop it way back - mid 20s (I am assuiming it is in the ealry 30s at the moment, as with most new rowers - Willie Weka was cruising along at about 33 strokes a minute, but treading water damn near) but keep your 500m times the same. Less speed, more power.

Evening row: 8000m 30:06.8

Feeling a bit knacked, was going to give the red bear intervals a go, but there was nothing there tonight. Will try and eat well and give it a nudge tomorrow night... -
my time of 8:30 per 2000m, shows that I'm going along about 2:10/500m, so not sure how much I can slow this down!

the stroke rate, yeah I'm looking at 29-32 for most of it, which seemed to be on a par with the other rowers around me. I'll drop it down to 25/6 and try and put more power in the pull.

Cheers for you help! -
no, you want to speed the 2:10/500, but slow the strokes per minute. Basically, pull harder, but less often!!

lunchtime row, did the Redbeard 5000. 5 x 1000 with 2 mnutes rest between.

3:26.3
3:24.7
3:25.6
3:22.7
3:25.0

it really really hurt.

Afterwork row. 6000, 21:58.3
Felt good, thought I wouild be shagged after the lunchtime row, but survived, and managed a half decent time Now off to traning and punish the Whanga boys. 1000 scrums, mwa ha ha ha... -
Just thought I would chuck another rowing option in for your training - in case you getting bored. On the new concept rowers they have a few custom sessions built into them. Did 1 today;

1 min on - 1 min off
2 min on - 2 min 0ff
3 min on - 3 min off
4 min on - 4 min off
3 min on - 3 min on
2 min on - 2 min off
1 min on - 1 min off.

Kept it under 1.35 for the 1 and 2 min sprints and under 1.40 for the rest. Thought the rest periods looked to long when I first started but needed them - Only 16 mins of actual rowing time but a farkin beauty workout.
