I don't know a lot about how papers are run but wouldn't there be someone who has final say what gets printed? Cartoonist made a bad joke but it isn't his job to determine if a joke is bad or not, his role is to be funny/edgy/entertaining. He missed the mark here but the responsibility should fall on the ODT and its disappointing to see that they seem to be blaming the cartoonist .

The editor has apologised twice in the paper now , unfortunately various cucks and bullies have latched onto this to use it as an excuse to raise their own profile . The Spinoff as usual has the worst take and here’s their contribution to the pile on https://thespinoff.co.nz/society/04-12-2019/i-thought-nz-had-changed-then-i-saw-the-cartoon-making-fun-of-samoan-babies-deaths/
    Whatever .

I didn’t realise Tremain is almost 80 years old .

I can't imagine what kind of weirdo would want this but @mariner4life has probably already emailled her asking when they are bringing out a Monica Belluci scented one .

Gwyneth Paltrow has done it again, folks.

The 47-year-old actress and serial lifestyle entrepreneur found another way to shock the world with the sale of a vagina-scented candle in her online Goop store.

The candle, provocatively named “This Smells Like My Vagina,” will run customers a cool $75 and boasts a fragrance packed with geranium, citrusy bergamot and cedar, according to the Daily Mail.

Apparently the idea for the candle, made by Heretic, originally started out as a joke.

As the product description reads: “This candle started as a joke between perfumer Douglas Little and GP -- the two were working on a fragrance, and she blurted out, ‘Uhhh ... this smells like a vagina’ -- but evolved into a funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected scent.”

@Donsteppa that's the angle i have never understood.

Surely if money was the ultimate driver, then there is waaaay more money in burying vaccines and treating people who end up with really bad diseases over an extended period of time?

It's not logical. These people defy logic. The only hope is that the sky fairy takes as many of them quickly to avoid affecting the rest of us!

@mariner4life Yeah, most vaccines make fuck all money, and can be more of a way to keep on the good sides of governments than a profit centre.

The podcast The Dream is about multi level marketing , aka pyramid schemes , this season is about supplements . The industry spends a fortune lobbying to keep the FDA away from their products and don't really use any sort of testing the way pharmaceutical companies do. Their so called natural health supplements like St Johns Wort can interfere with prescription medications and make warfarin and the birth control pill ineffective. Apparently 30-40 % of liver shutdowns are due to supplements .

Also Monster energy drink calls itself a supplement to avoid scrutiny.
