Getting serious.

Use it or lose it! A legit truism aye. Aside from the weights it's about moving and being able to move. Mobility work has been revolutionary for me in the last 5-6 years. Wish I'd caught that bug earlier in my weight lifting journey.
-
Going to the gym 5 times a week. While I have no intention of doing a Mr & Mrs. Bartman it has become mine and my wife's thing.
I'm down to 99kg and feeling dangerous...I'm a young-looking 41(Polynesians usually age well) but my son reckons since I started going to the gym and lost weight I look old. Young punk!
The calf is right back matching the other one. Arms and chest are looking pretty good even if I do say so myself. The gut has still got a ways to go but its more solid and less flab. Shoulders are a struggle to get gains. Backside and thighs are tightening but finding it hard to shed weight there.

found it tough to get to the gym this week. Still went and was happy I did but Im feeling a bit flat due to work stress. I am determined to keep this going and not make excuses where I have before.
I do have a niggly bit of pain on the out edge of my right food. Went for a surf on Saturday morning and on one attempt to stand(I suck at surfing, top-heavy and smaller feet than I should have) I got a sharp pain in my foot and it hasn't gone away. Haven't been able to use the tread mill, standard bikes or the rowers. Just in a shit area. Done the top half of the assault bike but I can't do that for long.
My exercise program is largely cardio-based and I feel better when I've done it as opposed to a strength session. Hopefully this shit passes soon.
Still sitting around 99kg - ate like a c*nt these last two weeks so can't complain that I haven't put any extra on. My kids turned 18 and 12 respectively a week apart so we had a lot of cake to get through...

can be good to roll your foot out with a hardball or even a golf ball. Easy to forget all the muscles and stuff in your feet and that they can benefit from a bit of loving. Great to hear you are seeing the body change - pretty sure ass and thigh thicc-ness is similar to belly and love handles, areas we tend to bulk in! keep the momentum running bro and that weight will start to shift soon!!

Inspiring bro, I need to start doing the same.
Incidentally, what is Barts story, when I first joined here he was still running the show, cutting DVD's for us overseas posters and posting otherworldly erg times!

@Paekakboyz I never really got man boobs or let my gut get really out of control but there's a difference there and the workmates can see it now. I went shopping for clothes over the weekend. I actually go against the grain and like shopping - when it's for me - but it's crazy that I have gone down 3 sizes in a short amount of time.
the mrs has all those muscle ball/roll things and I tried it but hasn't seemed to work.

So going on a month now with a sore foot and it seems like it may be early-onset arthritis but get this, brought about by overconsumption of chili.
I read about this because I noticed after 2 cheat meals of hot n spicy kfc the pain came back. Its not gout and my dr has all but confirmed that. but when I had a chat with him on monday he said have you been eating much in the way of spicy food, I said every second meal. So I have to knock back the spicy food for a while to test it out. A month to be exact.
Once upon a time I'd never had a curry in my life or chili of any kind. I'd never even had capsicum aside from on the odd pizza and I'd usually pick it off. That was up until I was 17yo. Now at 41 we have chili in fucken everything. This is going to be tough.
-
wtf? foot inflammation via chili? that is something new to me! Did the doc explain exactly how that works?
-
He said that it was a commonly held belief that chili help reduce inflammation but excessive amount sand the but of some shit I can't remember can have an adverse effect. I put hot sauce on everything and eat jalapenos like popcorn. It might not be this but he based it on what I'd eaten in an around the times it was most sore and when it flared up.
-
dude you must have a cast iron gut and heat shielding on your ass!! I love me some chili but you've taken it to a whole 'nother level!
Will be interesting to see what impact dialing back the heat has, and what level of consumption you (hopefully) can manage without symptoms.
This cracks me up as I'm just watching the Paul Rudd episode on Hot Ones

fell out of the rhythm for a wee bit due to consecutive weekends of piss ups and the charge towards the EOY with work projects. Ive been waking at 4am due to stress and going to bed at 8pm through exhaustion.
Only been getting to the gym 2 times a week and it's not enough to maintain muscle mass for me. Im still at a healthy weight and I am still eating well(stress hasn't gotten to my appetite) so thats good. But I need that motivation back. Tomorrow is the last day of real work for me and im looking forward to having some clear headspace and energy to go and work out.
-
I'm a lazy shit. Haven't put on the pounds just yet but there is a lot of lost definition and lost muscle mass.
I am going for the 3rd time this week and feeling better for it. I just let the holiday period get the better of me and I'm angry at myself. This week Im punishing myself with cardio. Also (safely) minimising the break times between sets. More circuit training too.

i do that too keep my heart rate up. i cut 10 minutes of a 52 minute work out by being disciplined on my "rest" times. The Garmin is perfect for it on the weight training mode.
-
@mariner4life the Mrs has a Fenix thing that cost me a new set of golf clubs. I just use my phone
-
@raznomore @mariner4life I can't do any form of exercise without the Garmin on. If it's not recorded and measured, it didn't happen. The idea of going out for a run or ride or swim without knowing how shit I was, is now insane to me.

Seconded .... I'd probably rather not exercise than not record it.
How shit is that?!?!?
