Lockdown/Covid Check In
-
As shitty as this year has been and continues to be ( except for Mrs @NTA shes having the time of her life it seems) there has been a heap of positives.
A lot of Businesses must have seen a whole new approach to work now. Realised they can have parts of their work force based from home. Months on I’m still contacting reps and suppliers working from home.
Don’t need to travel too far from home to ‘get away’ sometimes a small break a couple hours or so down the road does the trick.
It’s great to support your local businesses, definitely a lot more of that going on.Never known the Fern to be so supportive as we have been this year towards each other... stupid dust here at work..
Also @NTA love your work ( or lack of)

@Virgil I speak mainly from the perspective of living in Oz, but I’d imagine it’s similar for several countries having spoken to whanau in NZ, US, Asia and Europe and that is Covid has exposed (for better or worse) a lot of things in our societies - governance, policy etc
One of the positives have been the quiet acts of support going on and the resilience of some people. Conversely there’s been plenty of negativity, Us vs Them mentality that has come to the fore as well.
But despite all the crap, there has been good in amongst it that is worth holding on to. And if coming on the Fern has given a bit of a reprieve or an outlet to express views or have a laugh amongst strangers (ie strange people posting in their garages...), it reinforces the importance of feeling and being apart of a community when tough times hit. From what I’ve noticed is that often in tough times there’s a natural tendency for people to isolate themselves when really that is the opposite of what is needed.

Never known the Fern to be so supportive as we have been this year towards each other...
No Baron, and even he got a bit emotional / kind for a while.
I think that I preferred the shit fights. This hugging thing isn't really to my liking.

I've decided it is my civic duty in this time of national crisis to do everything I can to support small businesses
100% we've been a bit more lucky than those in NZ having food outlets open for takeaways, very much looking forward to watching some footy at the pub

Oh we can do way, way, better than this.
Everybody is being "kind" as per our great leader's instuctions. Give it time.

@ACT-Crusader Quite fitting that the Sith's main colour was red

Interesting that @ACT-Crusader chose whiny bitch prequel Anakin over Darth Vader to represent the Cantab gang. By interesting I mean fitting.
