@Kiwiwomble had it for a couple of months, got into The Bear but found it pretty shit to navigate and couldn't figure out what star wars or marvel stuff was the good ones. Use prime all the time.

I was surprised at how big Disney is but it's not as big as prime.

Disney in Australia are starting to consider their sports platform, so it could be a possibility down the road they look to do the same thing here.

    Dan Barrett

Could Disney pull sports from DAZN-Foxtel in Australia this July?

Could Disney pull sports from DAZN-Foxtel in Australia this July?

And has Disney-ESPN just signalled greater international intentions to keep the NFL?

The number of platforms is annoying, if you want a specific show to have to pay. We have Sky, Netflix, and Disney+. I refuse to pay for any more

I'm almost the opposite of you, I find Amazon so annoying to navigate. I find shows by accident or if people tell me and as @Kiwiwomble notes it's just filled with essentially ads for shows and movies on other platforms or PPV. I've mostly been watching Paramount+ shows on it as the good ones are easier to find.

My actual favourite for quality is Apple TV+. But I should suspend it for a few months every year while waiting for shows to catch up, but I always forget.

I made use of the free weekend recently to catch up on a couple of shows on Apple TV+ but will eventually re-subscribe as I am way behind. Dropping shows weekly is one of the disadvantages of this platform but makes sense for Apple.

The weekly shows annoys the fuck out of me, it's like I've returned to the 80s/90s.

I try to wait out Apple shows until all eps have dropped - which is another reason I should routinely cancel it.

as an FYI, Paramount + do have their own app and by using it you can at different times of the year get bigger discounts on fees rather than going via prime. The catch is that their app is worse still 🙂

@bayimports yeah, had seen Paramount+ advertised independently more just the disappointment when you see something listed on prime and it has the little yellow symbol in the corner meaning i need yet another service

Yeah that's probably the one we use the most at the moment, some great shows. Pretty clunky to navigate, but slightly better than Disney (i.e. I can actually find stuff I want to watch).

    Back on topic. 🤣

NZR is tipped to accept a 33% cut in broadcasting rights payment from Sky. Currently they receive $111M per year (previously it was $52M per year). This article says that NZR is leaning towards accepting $75M per year without the rights for the Nations Championship due to start in 2026. The community game will be most affected by this reduced income.

Does the broadcasting deal also include the newly created Nz-Sa series?

I thought the aim was to get a separate deal for that that would rival Lions broadcasting revenue?

I still have normal sky, as opposed to sky now(?), the online only one. It's not a patch on the old spark sport platform, their on demand is just nowhere as good, but you can use the Sky go app when you are away from your decoder

I looked at the online only one, but I didn't think the savings were that good. And I do like to watch other sports aside from rugby. But I agree it probably isn't good value for money

I use a Sky Pod with the Sport package included. $68/month. Works pretty well (all works off broadband rather than satellite). The very occasional buffering issue but that's maybe once a week, if that. I don't tend to use many of the features, but you can live rewind etc like you can with a decoder.

Will get more value from it once rugby kicks in again. Helpfully though, most of the other streaming platform apps are pre-loaded in the Sky home screen.

after we moved to aus i switched to foxtel and just used foxtel now, would never go back to having to get a dish physical connection installed. no app is perfect but feel it would have to be unsable to go back to having a box plugged into my frame tv
