Do they? We still have lots of kiwis, just not big names like the old days

In the regular rotation Melbourne has Loe, Ili and Cameron. The Breakers have Mennenga and Darling. I don't count King as he wants to play for Aust. The rest hardly play.

    this thread is dead because

The Breakers and the Taipans both fucking suck and are at the bottom of the ladder.

The Taipans are an absolute disgrace. Yesterday against Adelaide was the first time i have considered leaving early. Yes that squatty no-neck Vasiljavic hit 7 threes in the first quarter (some were just absolute bullshit) but in reply we scored 12. Twelve points in a quarter. And the margin never close the whole game.

There is not a single player on this roster that i want to see back next year. If Armstrong believes he is on the NBA path then he is deluded. Our imports suck, and have basically quit. Our Aussies are shit. THe fact that Jonah Antonio gets 12 minutes a game tells you everything you need to know about our team.

Yes we are poor, i get that. But that only tells part of the story. There are some wild stories doing the rounds about the back office, and if half the rumours are true then there is a serious problem.

This team is as bad a Taipans team as i have seen. I have seen some really bad ones. At least that year we went broke and only had development players, they actually tried.

Massive mismanagement by the Breakers ownership group. We went into the FIBA break on top of the table, they sell our best forward from under the coach who makes his displeasure clear.
Last time my mate (who is dyed in the wool Breakers) checked, Freeman rides the pine in Italy. Replace him with a circus act in Tacko Fall, who can't play the pick and roll game like Freeman, who can't protect the rim like Freeman because he turns about as quickly as the Titanic on a clear night in the North Atlantic. So now we can't score, we can't defend, season over. If I was a season ticket holder I think I'd demand a refund. Oh and apparently the coach, who had defied expectations is homesick and will probably leave at the end of the season. PJC will probably leave too. I can't even stand to watch them anymore

The Breakers are now a vanity project for Matt Walsh. Going to play NBA teams in-season shows how little he cares for what is best for the team. No other NBL team makes that trip now.

I haven't watched any games, but it would be interesting to know what the crowd numbers are like this season compared to previous seasons. They seem to be playing more games away from Spark Arena too.

gee that massive Xavier Cooks contract is looking shitty isn't it? while he managed to average 15-8-4, that's not a huge output for his million plus salary, and Sydney finished in the play-in

And now he is suspended for a doping violation. ooooh

Oh, and Bryce Cotton won his 5th MVP

Easily the best player i have seen in the NBL.

lol i get we all checked out of this comp months ago, but

fuck the NBL is a dumb organisation at times. The regular season finished on the 8th of Feb. Now, 6 weeks later, the finals still aren't finished. Unless you are a Hawks of Melbourne fan, absolutely no one cares. Your chances of keeping the neutrals watching this far after their clubs finished, and a couple of weeks in to the footy are basically zero. How the fuck is this comp still running???

Well another season and the NBL will be happy with the finals series going the distance and a smaller market team getting the chip again.

Hawks were the best team all year. They had the best balanced back court and a supporting cast that went 9 deep.

Hickey took a step up and played a blinder in Borge games 4 and 5. Froling was big for them before doing his achilles in game 4. Toddy Blanchfield turned the clock back and put in a couple of vintage shooting performances.

Tatum has made an impact since day 1 of taking over. It will be interesting if offers start coming from him back in the US.

United will be looking at some of their stars not named Delly and thinking they didn’t get nearly enough. Jack White’s foul shooting was shocking and it certainly got into his head. CG43 went quiet after a phenomenal year. Lee and Loe were foul prone to be really effective. Shea copped a bad head knock so wasn’t his dynamic best. The vet Ian Clarke was on fire. Tough shot after tough shot. Almost carried them to glory.

So the Yanks destroyed last season and now they've cashed out. I hope the new guys care a little more about winning

Not quite the NBL, but the NZ NBL (not worthy of its own thread). This Indian Panthers saga has been one ugly experiment.

    Sport

Indian Panthers suspended for remainder of NBL season amid pay allegations

Indian Panthers suspended for remainder of NBL season amid pay allegations

It comes after a turbulent tenure off the court since announcing they would join the NBL.

Adelaide have signed Bryce Cotton for 3 years.

    Huge news.

Meanwhile the Taipans don't even have a coach, let alone a roster. I hate this club and i hate this competition. Wondering if i even bother renewing my season tickets for the 18th year. It's just not fun.

@Smudge Justin Nelson has a lot to answer for....
With Otago leaving at the end of the season the league is contracting rather than growing.

If John Rillie wasn’t there he would’ve stayed put.
