Duke into their first final four since Coach K retired..... They are red hot favs to win the tournament, only lost one game since November and have only trailed for 5 minutes in the entire tournament.
Their star player Cooper Flagg is most likely going to be the number one pick this year.

Watched their game yesterday against Alabama. Just too tall, too skilled, and they play as a team on offence and defence.
In the women's game UConn looked very good against Oklahoma. After trailing by 3 or 4 at the break they locked them down on D and Paige Bueckers shot the lights out to win by close to 20

Hopefully Houston can give them a run for their money.
I'm looking forward to the final 4 matchups- all 4 #1 seeds made the final 4 for the first time since 2008.
All four semi finalists are also from the south, be curious to know if that has ever happened before, my guess is no, or once or twice at most. I can imagine this will be something of a new norm in college basketball as mid major programs and colleges from the north east and mid west will struggle to compete with the financial muscle of the southern schools.

Yup, 100%.

Fan of Duke but I have Florida to win the Men’s in my ESPN bracket.
UCLA to win the womens.
Duke’s defence against a red hot Alabama offence was excellent. Houston are physical and have athletes. Should be a fun game.
The Auburn vs Florida game is also two teams with very contrasting styles. Auburn play inside out with their All-American Carlos Boozer lookalike Broome. He was huge today against a very good Michigan State team.
Florida and Duke to win to face off in the big dance.

Appetite whetted.
The thing I love about when high seeds make it this far is that all the teams know how to win, they have a formula and they trust in each other.

South Carolina's women's team squeaked by Duke, who couldn't finish them off in the final 5 minutes or so
South Carolina are the powerhouse in the women's game right?

Yup. Fifth consecutive trip to the final four

Do you follow WNBA by chance? I never got into it tbh but you can't not have heard of Caitlyn Clark here in the US and it got some mainstream coverage and made waves on social media.

Not much. I do watch a few of Clark's games. I like to watch the WNCAA because it feels more relatable in terms of the skills. UConn and Duke are great to watch because they play team basketball. Whereas often in the NBA it's iso ball

First the Malice in the Palace, now this. The Pistons are involved again
-
The amazing games continued in the WNCAA. UCLA avenge a Sweet 16 loss last year against LSU. LSU had a couple of pure scorers who I thought would win out with a few minutes to spare. But UCLA got contributions from the whole team including two guards that scored 10 3s between them when their starting center had to sit on the bench for most of the first half with foul trouble

Duke played a lot better than I expected. Did an excellent job in keeping it a low scoring game. SC average 80 ppg and Duke held them to 54. Duke were killing them on the boards but just couldn’t hit shots despite getting so many second chance opportunities. They’ll be kicking themselves because they really should’ve won that.
UConn and Paige B take advantage of a Juju less USC. Paige dominated the game from inside and out.
Again like the Men’s, there are some heavyweight clashes to look forward to.
-
A UConn South Carolina rematch would be good. I'd like to see UConn win, as Gino is a great coach, and Paige has endured an injury plagued career despite her individual numbers. They have a big chance this year if Bueckers, Strong, and the streaky Fudd can fire at the same time, and their role and bench players have contributed a lot

Imo the over reliance on the 3 (and the fact that so many players can shoot it well) is something that needs to be looked at. What I find a tad irritating is when players are able to penetrate into the paint but they are mostly looking to then find shooters on the perimeter.
I think it would be a reasonable proposition to only have 3s count in the last three minutes of each quarter - so 12 out of the 48 minutes. I think it would restore some balance to the way the game is played.

Nuggets lose in overtime to the T-Wolves despite a 61-point triple double from Jokic.
Steph puts up 52 to get the Warriors past the GrizzliesThe middle of the West is as close as can get, and even the Lakers in 4th can't afford to slip up

Lakers had a good win yesterday against the Rockets. Everyone is buying into hustle defence, even Luka!
