Eight years ago tonight AVFC lost 3-1 at home to Reading. Today we beat the best team in Europe to complete an unbeaten UEFA Champions League season at home. So proud of this team and how far they've come in recent years.
Hopefully, there are more nights like tonight and some silverware ahead.

There will be. We may still win the FA Cup, and are a huge chance of qualifying again for the champions league. Tough fixtures ahead in the league with Newcastle and Man City back to back.

I didn't realise that PSG were managed by Luis Enrique. If Villa had pulled it off, that would have been a kind of revenge for Emery - he managed PSG when they lost that crazy tie against Luis Enrique's Barcelona, where Barcelona won despite being 3 goals behind after 88 minutes.

Watkins was unplayable today. Deserved more than one.
Asensio should have tucked one away after the Newcastle goal too. Newcastle should be happy they only lost 4-1.

Leicester City and Southampton are already relegated with five games to go. It's mathematically possible for Ipswich Town to stay up but they would need to win all five of their last five games by stonking amounts and for West Ham to get thrashed in all five of their games.
So it is looks like all three of the sides who were newly promoted in August are heading back down again with several games to spare. The gulf between the Premier League and the Championship has never been so wide.

FFP. If teams overspend and go back down, they're fucked.
It's hard enough for teams like Aston Villa and Newcastle trying to keep up with the elite. It's just as hard for promoted sides to stay in the division because of the rules.

It's hard enough for teams like Aston Villa and Newcastle trying to keep up with the elite. It's just as hard for promoted sides to stay in the division because of the rules.
The danger will be dropping further because of their financial position trying to stay up in the EPL

Except three seasons ago Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest were the promoted sides. All have stayed up, consolidated and are pushing for Europe. Helped by several of the 'powerhouse clubs' having shat the bed.
