I also find it odd they've benched Shields, we need his

yeah Shields is quite useful if you can keep him away from the ball - that might be a reason?

Game of the round for me, should be close, but I think Chiefs have by far the stronger bench. Just hope the Canes don't go to the bench too early, or at all 🙂
Canes starting 15 almost at full strength now, vastly different team to the beginning of the season. Shame we have not got to see what Cashmore can do yet.
Betting odds still have the Chiefs as strong favourites.

McMillan can't help himself with his changes. Another 6:2 bench. 😲

I was worried when they said Tupaea might have an ACL injury on the ARP.

Only four changes this week - a season low!

Yes hard to see Chiefs getting up against a full strength Canes loaded with starting AB lock-ins.

What an interesting take, who are the absolute Canes ABs lock ins? Lomax, Roigard, Love and Proctor? Kirifi probably deserves a call up but wouldn't call him a lock in and Aumua has been far from his best after last year.

It will be a tight game for sure but once the Canes run out Enari and Hohepa it's all over. I'll probably eat my words.

@Yeetyaah Think it might be a tongue in cheek reference to this:

I think if the Chiefs are winning when it's time to bring on reserves, we'll be cooked.

The Canes will want a fast start and will need to be up by at least a try before the Chiefs bring on the likes of Sititi with 20 odd to go.

The Canes will also want a dry track as they've picked a team to play fast. If it's pissing down, I can't see us beating the Chiefs with those big forwards.

I feel like it's an unnecessary roll of the dice by Laidlaw. Should have stuck with the same team as the Brumbies (bar Aumua), I feel we had the balance right in the forwards.

Let me tell you, folks, the Hurricanes — tremendous team, just incredible — they have the best All Blacks. Everybody says so. I talk to the coaches, I talk to the fans — they all agree. The greatest players. Big, strong, fast — just like we like ’em. Peter Lakai? Amazing. Ruben Love? Total winner. These guys don’t just play rugby — they dominate. Other teams? Very overrated. Not even close. The Hurricanes are making the All Blacks great again. Believe me.

How can you miss out Proctor and Jordie in that spiel?

I wish, unfortunately he can't even make the Canes 23 which many are perplexed by.

Chiefs fan here, this game has me a little nervous I can’t lie despite the bookies having us heavy favourites. Canes have their strongest 23 of season at home, big win away last week, they’ve been wanting to get us back after last year’s semi since full time of that game and in the context of their season a win here is huge. I just hope we don’t mentally fold, however if we’re up when it’s time for both teams to go the bench, I think we’ll see it out.

Must be good enough to be the reverse 9. What is the Scotsman smoking?

Canes scrum isn’t bashing oppo the way they did last year. Numia seems a step down from where he was in Super last year. I wonder if his Achilles is 💯?

Huge game for Norris. If he can achieve parity against Lomax at scrum time, he should earn a selection within the AB squad as he is the form prop in the loose.

Canes front row is nowhere close to last year, in set piece and in general play. No idea what happened.

No Sangster this year. Maybe engine room underpowered?
