Brutal is strong enough to describe it

    Brutal via surreal.....

This was my favorite: - "Have you ever thought of doing a group one in a tour bus full of celebrities?"

some of those were top level brutal. This one stood out for me...

Have you ever considered being funny or likable?

See there's the thing for me:

Prince was a bit of an unlikable arsehole but an absolute musical genius.

John Farnham is a great guy when interviewed but his music is rubbish.

How the fuck Corden got to where he is based on being at the bottom of the rung in terms of comedic talent AND likeability is a more of a mystery than how the pyramids were built.

These debates often come up on FB and I read the comments, most of them are exactly what has been written here but there's often middle aged women who stick up for him because he's "so nice" "funny" and "talented".

If any of that shit appears on the fern that poster would need to be banned for life.

One significant half of Gavin and Stacey which sits comfortably in the pantheon of greatest ever British sit coms.

There have been plenty of acts who've gone solo and not been as good. Doesn't stop the best stuff being any worse for the solo venture.

    Great British Comedy is outstanding......

I'm thinking Are you being served, On the buses, Faulty Towers, The Young ones, Blackadder, The Office, Red Dwarf, Black Books, Auf Wiedersehen Pet.......plus more I've forgotten. Many of those are dated as fuck which makes them even funnier in most cases.

I have massive doubts that Cordens show is in that bracket.

The TV viewing British public would seem to heartily disagree.

    As do I

@MiketheSnow it's a good argument until you hit Mrs Brown's Boys and Miranda. Baffling.

If you hadn’t reposted a meme that I posted sometime ago ( @Bones must be on strike for not pointing it out ) we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Has anyone got any good memes ?

Yes we've had a plethora of absolutely shite comedies that are somehow popular. The Great British Viewing Public's endorsement is not a viable argument.

It is weird - Brits do the absolute best, and the absolute worst, of comedy.
As to Gavin & Stacey - I've never seen it, but always had the impression that if anything - it s a rare one that sits in the middle - almost an american comedy.
As to Corden - yes, most of the evidence against the guy is "gossip" - but there's a LOT of it, including journalists following up and getting corroborating evidence. From the guy's friends, for fuck's sake. The guy is a dick, and I'll cut any apologists. Fuck him. And that AMA is great - a shining example that perhaps humanity isn't completely worthless after all.

I never realised Married with Children, Seinfeld, the Simpsons and Curb your Enthusiasm were British

Decent, fairly-shite, decent, fairly-shite. But nothing to be classed as "absolute best" or "absolute worst".

Not a fan of Jewish humour I take it ?

British Humour is the best overall but probably not by the margin people seem to think.
