Last time I checked the point of this forum was for randoms to speculate on rugby and rugby players?
My bad. Feel free to "speculate" on whether a player has love handles and what Razor thinks of them, whilst ignoring the actual rugby. Quality.
If you don't think that kind of thing is a factor then you mustn't have heard about the importance of body language also.
De Groot has been asked to lose some weight under two coaching regimes now.
These things are factors.
I wouldn't complain if Tavatavanawai was in the squad. I'd like to see how he goes. I just think that is potentially a factor against him.
This guy had a big pot belly. Wasn't too bad apparently.
He didn't look like that at his peak in 2003.
But was still awesome with a pot belly.

The pot belly is key to the low centre of gravity for turnovers. You just flop it up there on the tackled player and it provides great stability while still looking like you are supporting your body weight.

Yeah I could understand pointing it out if the player actually had a pot belly, especially if they were playing fuck all minutes and/or not doing much apart from one or two decent carries.... but this is out there eh.

It's a good point though, I can't for the life of me think what Havili adds to any squad above Jim (goalkicking and fullback already being covered a million times over).
i.e. there's exactly zero risk to selecting Tavatavanawai over Havili.

I think Havili brings more playmaking than Tavatavanawai. I think Tavatavanawai probably excels in a less dominant backline where he's given plenty of flexibility to play to his strengths but wouldn't necessarily thrive in a more rigid system.
That doesn't mean I want to see Havili selected.

Yeah I'm not convinced. I think Jim's playmaking ability probably gets overlooked because he can knock people on their arse.
If there was decent proof of Havili being this talented playmaker and Jim being terrible, I'd be happy to be swayed.

I'd consider a guy who can consistently knock the opposition on their arses. David has not shown that skill at test level

Razor has to stop thinking in the past and focus on the talent he has right in front of him. There is no one playing overseas that deserves an automatic spot in the team (Jordie doesn't count because he's on sabbatical)
I'm no Razor defender, but in the interview he was asked if you would like to see xyz come back, and he just said - you want to see all your best players available.
I think it is more of a more of a media thing harping on about it than Razor. What is he supposed to say, no door is closed, don't come back.
