Only took him three minutes of the interview to get around to talking about cheese n' ham toasties and ice cream......
To be fair, Fozzy looks like he's lost a few kilos in Japan.
Well he is discussing being with Fat Guts Hansen in Japan. I bet a few bakeries got a visit.
I'm also shocked at them all talking up Hamilton.
But yes, a very likable fellow on the whole.

A continuous theme with recent AB coaches.

Listened to most of that. He seemed a decent, sensible and likeable guy with good relations with his players and the other coaches.
He's make a good neighbour. He's laugh at your jokes and offer to mow your lawn or baby sit your kids from time to time.
What I didn't get though was any sense that he was a details men or familiar with much sports science. He seemed out of his depth as AB coach to be blunt.

More too the point the players should have stayed out of the CEO hotel room. Or the CEO should've told then to get back in their box.
A CEO without bollocks.
A head coach without bollocks.
A squad without bollocks.
Thats what most of the tenure was like.

Hamilton the place not the superstar ex-All Black?
I imagine the relatively level terrain suits people with a build no longer suited to strenuous activity.

That was the knock. That Shag had lost it, and we picked a guy who would maintain his course. Razor was meant to be the agent of change. We will see how he goes this year, but last year was disappointingly more of the same

No coincidence that Steve Hansen called Christchurch home

Very touching how Ardie reached out when he was at his lowest point. The players really had his back, Gilbert Enokas statement too was an incredible endorsement.

Anyone bought it? Apparently he explains that he actually wanted Joseph and Brown on his original team.
So they turned him down?
I dunno, that's why I'm asking if someone has read it
From a post on FB:
His preferred coaching duo—Jamie Joseph and Tony Brown—slipped away during New Zealand Rugby’s glacial appointment process.
What he got instead were last-minute substitutes in John Plumtree and Brad Mooar, talented but not quite ready for the furnace of All Blacks expectations.
-
Yeah - he explains his frustrations that the process took so long after the 2019 RWC and believed it should have been concluded in “days”.
He had agreement from those two to come over. Joseph would have been forwards coach.

Another mark against the NZRU board.

Talk about a sliding door moment. JJ manages the forwards, TB manages the backs..... 😔

Interesting book. Easy read. I think he was still probably a flawed coach but didn’t have a lot go his way and NZR’s power brokers don’t come off looking great (albeit from a biased POV) - whatever you thought of the tenure.
