Interestingly, we've had talk about the coaches saying that CLW is too small (@Chris ?) but here the guy was saying that the coaches love him and thinks he'll be picked if he plays well this weekend.
Not sure what you are asking I never said that he was too small or the coaches said that.?
Might not be you, but someone has said that they heard from others that the coaches think he is too small
Nah not me.
Apologies, it was @Mr-Fish

Yeah unless Razor's tune has changed from last year... Loves CLW (which is why he was with the squad for a lot of last year when injuries struck) but didn't think he had the size for Test rugby (which is why he never got a run, even when the All Blacks were down to about five overplayed loosies).

Then the hosts go full retard suggesting the Blues should be done with him.
That's moronic.

End of the segment is interesting - he's running down Clayton McMillan and questioning his attitude / egotism (basically saying that he's got tickets on himself and can't back it up).
McMillan has been a great servant to NZ rugby and the Chiefs. Overall he's produced a very strong team which won zero games under Gats.

Discussion of Kirifi ahead of Papalii, suggesting that Paps may have reached his peak and they want to see someone else (is @chchfanatic actually Lashes?)
In this part, btw, it did seem that this was his analysis and not necessarily sauce.
Papali'i's problem is he doesn't have a natural position so he just ends up being another of these hybrid loosies
Throw in how Papalii pretty much got dropped for the second half of the last test season and it makes sense.
He should focus on blindside, I reckon he'd go best there with his skillset.
I remember he played test 2 vs Ireland in Dunedin there a few years ago and was completely anonymous
I agree though that it would be his best path - packing on some more size and a full campaign there for the Blues (they do have a glaring need at 6) would be interesting to see

They won zero Super Rugby Aotearoa games - they were cruising along pretty well in 2020 before Covid hit.
-
Yeah they lost 8 games in Super Rugby Aotearoa 2020 - every game of the season. The following year McMillan took over so Gats could work on the Lions tour. They placed second on the table.
Anyway no need for those guys to run down McMillan when he's given it a decent crack when more and more players/coaches are leaving NZ. What's the value in them running a bloke down who coached a good team?

Certainly an interesting discussion - but, some of it was definitely his analysis rather than things he's had confirmed by his sauces - who are presumably pretty good.
Main things I took as hard news:
Hoskins declined to attend the camp.
There will be at least three new caps. (Was it Mr. Mike who had the good oil for the ABs tailor? It was immensely reliable and apparently there's three guys been issued kit).
They're considering playing Rieko on the wing due to a bit of a paucity of good options.
What I take from this:
-
Hoskins is finished with the ABs. It's the "best of the rest" camp, so obviously some guys aren't going to make the final selection - but, if you have aspirations to play for the ABs you don't decline. Be very surprised if he's not signing offshore.
-
There's going to be a new loosehead prop (they name-check Fusitua and Numia - I think Norris is a good chance - though Casey doesn't mention him). There's probably going to be a new lock (I expect it will be Holland). There's going to be a new wing (replacing Tele'a). They're speculating on Carter (which maybe means he's not yet been issued kit?). If @chchfanatic is right maybe it's Timoci who's been measured for a uniform?

Never stopped Ruben Thorne having a long career under multiple All Black coaches.
-
@Chris-B Chris it will be a Winters Christmas for me on monday If the big Dutchman, Jim from Blenheim & Lio-Willie the Dentist find themselves in Black as I've been fans of them for such a long time. Razor showing such ambition will have me eagerly excited for the Test season ahead 🙂
-
I remember Papali'i got a thumb injury so they put Cane in against South Africa. Then Papali'i went back to Counties to get some game time, and did a hammy. So there is a bit of ambiguity over whether he was dropped.
-
Meant to say above - Casey's preferred loose forward quartet is apparently 6.Sititi, 7. Kirifi, 8. Savea with Jacobson on the bench.
With our preferred locks apparently being the smallish Scooter and Vaa'i - we're going hard on small ball?
I certainly hope not!!!

According to this, Hoskins was asked to attend and said "I'm all good thanks, I'll chill".
This, coupled with his response after missing out on the ABs last year just shows the maturity of Hoskins.
Not someone I’d like in the ABs tbh, doesn’t matter how well he’s playing.
In other news, I’m really hoping to see Kirifi get a shot, he’s been massive this year and arguably the most consistent 7 in the comp alongside Tizzano and Savea.
I also don’t know where Tavatavanawai’s best position will be at test level but imagine bringing him on with 25 mins to go to fuck shit up.

That said, he probably has a right to be a little bit skittish when it comes to the All Black coaches. He doesn't want to be another guy who gets a few seconds in the black jersey and gets ruled out from playing test footy for someone else. After being passed over so many times I kind of wonder why he's still here
