All Blacks v France I

Probably as you’d expect for a first match of the season. Overall, we played well but large work ons with defense, kicking and ball handling.
Reality is we had 3 disallowed tries and controlled the last 70 minutes with 3-4 very costly defensive lapses.
Wins a win.

That was really no different to last year. Can't really see what we're trying to achieve.
Razor if you are reading this, please heed these words: champion teams are those that focus on absolutely nailing the basics every single time. If we did that, we'd be so hard to beat. But we make so, so many mistakes.

@No-Quarter Thought there was some nice space created in first half, but very soft in second half.

@KiwiMurph Savea is a luxury selection at 7. He can be a brilliant player, but tackling and hitting rucks are the core roles of a seven.
I've said for a few years now that he would be better used off the bench in the final 20 - 30 minutes.

France could have had a couple of penalties through those phases, as they could have done quite often when they’ve actually had the ball tonight. AB tacklers off feet on the French side not getting out the way of the 9. Hasn’t been picked up tonight, will be by a NH ref
I'd be stoked if this was actually called tonight. French often had a man on our side slowing down our ball.

For us -
Excellent - Jordie
Good - CLW looked pretty busy, Holland (though doe go to ground easily for a big man), Ardie, Roigard, Newell.
Questionable - Rieko, Proctor, FinauI'd add Codie Taylor to excellent.
