So, worst kept secret ever, but finally made official; Jack Goodhue will play for Northland in 2017
Doesn't say if is a multi year or just one off, but is contracted to Crusaders through end of 2019

so I see they have announced Dale McLeod is staying on as assistant coach again as well as Academy, but still cant release name of head coach due to overseas contract issues.

Another of the worst kept secrets??

Or is it Joe Schmidt or Eddie Jones looking for a real challenge? 🙂

Also, something else that seemed to go under the radar, Northland have a new jersey sponsor (looks like we wore them in the latest 7s comp, but not the one a week earlier)

NRU seem to have gone back in time with regard to their media releases recently.

Happy to see McLeod get assistants job because continuity is important when we have so much young talent to develop. Like never before really.

    The new jumper is cool.

@kev yeah I wasn't overly comfortable with the thought he might have the job in Japan as well.

As I have said before, I think he was making some headway with creating a team and culture up here, hopefully he is able to build on that further, as he will no doubt have learnt plenty in Japan as well.

With him, Goodhue and the squad as a whole, so much to look forward to for our upcoming season (we say this every year right 😉 )

Update on Toll Northland Players in Super Rugby

    Published on: February 3, 2017

Rugby is well under way for our Toll Northland Taniwha players who are in Super Rugby teams. Next weekend sees the inaugural Brisbane 10’s tournament and there’ll be a six strong contingent of our Toll Northland Superboys playing.

Sam Nock, Tom Robinson, Josh Goodhue, Kara Pryor are all turning out for the Blues. Jack Goodhue is in the Crusaders team and Solomon Alaimalo runs out for the Chiefs. Jone Macilai, Dan Pryor and Matt Moulds are not named as they rehab injuries.

Tamati Tua, who was training with the Blues before their All Blacks returned, has now been released back to club training.

Also appearing will be former Toll Northland Taniwha players Rene Ranger for the Blues and Robbie Abel for the Brumbies.

I see Phil Kite had been training with the Reds in pre-season and now called in to replace an injured James Slipper.
