@mariner4life The problem with replacing Eastwood with Packer is that you loose a ball player and only gain a workhorse.

Matulino would be a better shot, even with only a couple of games under his belt.

@Sneakdefreak That's not a bad looking team to be fair.

I reckon NAS is going to create some havoc ,

been watching him develop over the last 12 months , and he is just starting to mature into this massive wrecking ball

biggest player in the nrl at 21 and a handful to contain

I watched the Warriors vs Melbourne game on Wed night. First league game I have watched in years.

I was really bored and kinda annoyed with how much time was spent trying to milk penalties? Is that normal? Also is Johnson just massively overated? Or more likely am I just ignorant of what he does?

Not bashing league, this is a thread for people who enjoy it... not a debate about how good it is. Not going to derail, but just wanted to ask these questions.

People trying to milk penalties - yes, all the time. If the tip of a defenders little finger brushes the ball carriers chin, they'll lie down and have and sook about it until the ref blows a penalty, then hey presto I'm right as rain now.
Johnson overrated, yes. He has some magical touches which will win a game every now and then, but consistently steering the team around the park and consistently doing the basics well, no way José.

Thanks much appreciated. I am not really a Warriors fan at all. But maybe the ANZAC day thing motivated me... I was really wanting to win that game. I was continually nervous about them conceding a penalty. .. basically every tackle! More nervous about that than what the storm were doing.

Penalties are huge in league because there is a high probability that teams score after a penalty is conceded.

And conceding penalties against the darlings of the comp is always greater....

@ACT-Crusader penalties late in the count are the absolute worst thing you can do in league. And the Warriors are the kings of late penalties.

Bennett and Bellamy have pretty much changed league to be a game of having a rock solid defense, good kicking game, and punishing teams for mistakes. They don't need to be creative, they just need to keep their error count low, and it will get you a long way. It's the blueprint for a successful team, and nearly every premier plays it the same way now.

Players milking penalties (taking dives etc) is largely due to the inconsistency of the refs which is a issue in most pro sports right now.
But Melbourne are the masters of getting a call go their way at crucial moments in the game, probably due to their captain spending more time barking orders to the refs than his own teammates.

Yeah, the Panthers are a bit of a fucking joke. Why did they dump Cleary for Anthony Griffin? The bloke can't coach....

Speaking of Cleary though, apparently has signed Lolohea to be the next Wests fullback.

NSW Cup star Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad gets a shot at the big time with Kata out with a hammy. Manu Vatuvei could also be a late inclusion for the team to play the Roosters on Sunday at Mt Smart:

    2 CHARNZE NICOLL-KLOKSTAD

    3 DAVID FUSITU’A

    4 BLAKE AYSHFORD

    5 KEN MAUMALO

    6 KIERAN FORAN

    7 SHAUN JOHNSON

    8 JAMES GAVET

    9 ISSAC LUKE

    10 JACOB LILLYMAN

    11 BODENE THOMPSON

    12 RYAN HOFFMAN

    13 SIMON MANNERING

    Interchange:

    14 NATHANIEL ROACHE

    15 LIGI SAO

    16 SAM LISONE

    17 BEN MATULINO

    18 MANU VATUVEI

@mariner4life the nrl will tell you it's because of tv ratings , and they get by far the biggest tv audience .

But it's not a level playing field for the other clubs trying to attract sponsors etc

Shauny J resigns with the Warriors for dos yearos.

Warriors also close to signing Leivaha Pulu from the Titans. Know little about him but he is seen as an enforcer.

There is plenty of interest in Tui Lolohea so he's likely to ask for an early release.

And if Charnze plays well on debut I suspect he'll get it.

I hope he does - for whatever reason he just doesn't fit the mix the previous or current coaching team are looking for. Hasn't been well served by being moved all over the show either. Still a bit torn on whether he's a long term 6 or FB... a lot would depend on who he partners with in the halves. Not the greatest defender but regular time at FB and mentoring from Cleary would address that I reckon.

@Paekakboyz Doesn't display a lot of courage at fullback - he pulled out on a few bombs last year because he was afraid of getting hit. A pretty good wing, and haven't seen much of him at centre or stand off to judge.

All right! All the fuck I need to know is, is Jim Doyle talking out of his arse? I hear Foran may stay in Auckland?

    WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING!

(Sorry to appear from nowhere - I don't get on here as often as I annoyingly used to)
