    @Stargazer

Sounds promising, although strange that there no mention of Coles' concussion issues

I guess when he talks "protocols" he talking about concussion but yeah he doesn't say that explicitly.
But it sounds like he's training with intensity and not suffering concussion symptoms so it's really good news.

Would be great to have them both back for a couple of games, probably for the Force and Chiefs games.

    Geldenhuys escapes further sanction

The SANZAAR Judicial Rules in Section 8 of the Tournament Manual state:6.1A Player who has received three yellow cards or three Warnings (or any combination thereof) arising from matches in the same Super Rugby Competition shall be required to appear before the Foul Play Review Committee appointed for the Match during which he last offended.

Geldenhuys was issued with no further sanction.Geldenhuys was awarded a Yellow Card in Rd 1, a Yellow Card in Rd 4 and a Yellow Card in Rd 12.The SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee of Nigel Hampton QC (Chairman), Stephen Hardy and Stefan Terblanche assessed the case.

    (...)

“With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed that no further sanction was appropriate due to the fact that both the second and the third yellow card offences were for technical offences, with the third card relating to repeated team infringements.”

“The Foul Play Review Committee cautioned the Player as to his repeat offending, but felt no further sanction needed to be applied in such circumstances. The Player is free to resume playing.”

Bulls lock Snyman suspended for four weeks. Three weeks more than Naholo completely justified IMO.

"With respect to sanction, the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks primarily due to the dangerous nature of the act and the direct contact with the opponent's head. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the player's good judicial record and early guilty plea, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to four weeks."

@Tim Disappointing for him, the Crusaders and their fans, but maybe it's better to return against a weak team like the Rebels after such a long injury break. If he's fit, I have no doubt he'll be in the AB squad, even if he's only played 2 SR games. Kaino and Read will play less before the Lions tour. There's also the Crusaders v Lions game, and the Maori ABs game, in which Dagg can get game time.

@Stargazer Yeah I can't imagine the pitch is going to be fantastic. Not good rehab coming back from a knee injury.

Don't mind Dagg missing the Suva game. We will probably rotate a few players for the Rebels game so a good time to bring Dagg back.

Greg Pleasants-Tate will miss this weeks game due to a neck injury suffered from Snyman's shoulder charge. This is particularly worrying for him, as missed almost the entire 2016 Mitre 10 Cup with a neck injury.

    http://superrugby.co.nz/News/30788/highlanders-wary-of-emerging-blues

Wing Waisake Naholo has headed home after drawing a one-week suspension following his red card and he will prepare for the Waratahs but the side have been joined by first five-eighths Lima Sopoaga, who ran with the squad and Tuesday and was looking good, and hooker Guy Millar who is covering for Greg Pleasants-Tate who suffered a neck injury as a result of the shoulder charge to his face by Bulls lock RG Snyman, who received a four week ban.

Wow. If only a TMO had the time to review that footage during play and see a swinging arm.

    😐

I think Ofa should have been cited, too, but luckily he didn't (as far as I know). At this stage of the competition (so close to the Lions tour), you don't want ABs (even the lesser ones) to get bans, because it might affect their eligibility to play for the ABs.

I'd be happy for Ofa to get a ban if we are considering him to play the Lions

I'm still lovin' the fact that 6 of the Brumbies' points are losing BonusPoints.
If anybody can be arsed, a table using current Conference rules but without the BPs?
(I actually agree with the BP system, it's just... another way of putting the boot into the Oz teams, and how shit they are. And SA. And shit - in a system when the local teams play each other more than anybody else, yet a single "conference" is still dominant... WTF?)
