@Tim Disappointing for him, the Crusaders and their fans, but maybe it's better to return against a weak team like the Rebels after such a long injury break. If he's fit, I have no doubt he'll be in the AB squad, even if he's only played 2 SR games. Kaino and Read will play less before the Lions tour. There's also the Crusaders v Lions game, and the Maori ABs game, in which Dagg can get game time.

@Stargazer Yeah I can't imagine the pitch is going to be fantastic. Not good rehab coming back from a knee injury.

Don't mind Dagg missing the Suva game. We will probably rotate a few players for the Rebels game so a good time to bring Dagg back.

Greg Pleasants-Tate will miss this weeks game due to a neck injury suffered from Snyman's shoulder charge. This is particularly worrying for him, as missed almost the entire 2016 Mitre 10 Cup with a neck injury.

    http://superrugby.co.nz/News/30788/highlanders-wary-of-emerging-blues

Wing Waisake Naholo has headed home after drawing a one-week suspension following his red card and he will prepare for the Waratahs but the side have been joined by first five-eighths Lima Sopoaga, who ran with the squad and Tuesday and was looking good, and hooker Guy Millar who is covering for Greg Pleasants-Tate who suffered a neck injury as a result of the shoulder charge to his face by Bulls lock RG Snyman, who received a four week ban.

Wow. If only a TMO had the time to review that footage during play and see a swinging arm.

    😐

I think Ofa should have been cited, too, but luckily he didn't (as far as I know). At this stage of the competition (so close to the Lions tour), you don't want ABs (even the lesser ones) to get bans, because it might affect their eligibility to play for the ABs.

I'd be happy for Ofa to get a ban if we are considering him to play the Lions

I'm still lovin' the fact that 6 of the Brumbies' points are losing BonusPoints.
If anybody can be arsed, a table using current Conference rules but without the BPs?
(I actually agree with the BP system, it's just... another way of putting the boot into the Oz teams, and how shit they are. And SA. And shit - in a system when the local teams play each other more than anybody else, yet a single "conference" is still dominant... WTF?)

@taniwharugby So, without bonus points, you would still get the same finalists under the current format, but in a different order because the Highlanders have moved up the table.

With bonus points, the QF after this round would be:
    Crusaders v Sharks
    Lions v Highlanders
    Stormers v Chiefs
    Brumbies v Hurricanes

Without bonus points, the Lions would play the Chiefs and the Stormers would play the Highlanders.

Bloody hell we need Coles to come right for the Lions, all of the other options make me nervous.

Taylor, Harris and Coltman will do a reasonable job. That's the weakest position for the Lions, they don't really have any world class hookers in their squad.

@taniwharugby Cheers - I was mostly wondering if the table looked any more ridiculous with guaranteed spots for each conference leader - but not really.
With BPs - Brumbies with 23 points sit above Hurricanes with 43
Without BPs - Brumbies with 16 points sit above Hurricanes with 36
And now that I summarise the point I was wondering about to that extent - I realise it was ridiculously easy to do some basic subtraction to figure that out myself. But then, some bastard had "triggered" me into buying a bottle of whisky on Friday, and my vague memory of posting the question could be explained by that.

I've read a few people surmise that Harris is held in high regard due to his physical qualities being the most comparable to Coles. That may be true, but watching him miss a few tackles this weekend shows there's just no substitute for the speed that Coles has.
