I don't like to criticise referees for making mistakes at full speed but in this case the TMO/referee had multiple views at slow speed to make his decision. There's no excuse for not giving a card for that Treeby incident. I haven't actually seen the decision making process, but it's clear from the outcome that there was a breakdown in the process.

It looked like the Blues might also have avoided a card for the Ofa tackle.

The last try looked horrendous as well. Not just a holding on/"double movement" against the ball carrier, but the try scorer had both knees on the ground when he picked it up.

I really think there should be consequences for these cock ups.

I think there are, we just never get to hear about them because they are viewed as an employment matter rather than being a transparent process.
We all understand that mistakes get made and people have horror days (players and refs) but I can never understand why they seem to think that keeping quiet does anything except erode confidence.
The best on field refs are often the ones who are open about their decisions and errors rather than being belligerent. Same should be the case off field.

@Crucial what is also frustrating, is the fact that he wasn't punished on-field (as in 35mins on the sidelines) which could well have affected the outcome of a game, yet he still gets a big 'discount'

Jaco van Heerden and Shaun Veldsman both NOT on this week's appointments list.

Tim Nanai-Williams and Taleni Seu re-sign with the Chiefs. Williams for one year and Seu for two years.

    And the journey begins.......

.......and ends with him being fired and a lot of disappointed bulls supporters asking why the hell he was hired in the first place.

Ihaia West is off contract at the Blues after this year and must decide whether to continue to fight for the No10 jersey in Auckland, or perhaps seek pastures new and replace Black as Beauden Barrett's back-up at the Hurricanes.

@Tim I think he'd probably suit the Canes where there tends to be a lot of other playmakers in the backline. Plus Perenara.

@taniwharugby yeah most likely eh, although Black has had a few starts this year hasn't he? Plus Barrett will probably get a decent rest to start the season next year too.

@Bones I think West is best suited to the bench. It suits his game. Hes really made an impact when off the bench (and not injured).

I hope the Hurricanes will sign Tiaan Falcon for their Development squad. This kid is very promising from what we saw of him during the Oceania's tournament.

@cgrant This article suggests that he is already a Hurricanes Development player, but I'm not sure whether that means that he has a contract:

    https://www.hurricanes.co.nz/the-canes/news/single/item/napier-match-set-to-add-to-hawkes-bays-hurricanes-legacy/

After training with the Canes during preseason, he played for the Canes in at least one of their preseason games (v Blues); then he played for the Canes at the Brisbane Tens, and after that for the Canes U20s and their Development squad. He was outstanding for such a young player and looked very mature for a 19 year old. I cannot imagine that the Hurricanes will not sign him.
