That's too bad. He's had a lot of big injuries for such a short career.

This opens the door for Auckland to start Dalton Papali'i at 6 this year. Seu can move to lock to pair up with Scrafton.

Michael Collins signs one-year contract extension with the Blues

    This makes me happy 🙂

Look forward to Tana picking him in every game next year and reading the crying about it on here.

This reminds me of the time when there was constant crying on here each week when Luke Whitelock would start ahead of Jordan Taufua under Toddy. 😉

@Nepia Nothing surprises me with you thieving c#nts! 🙂

In fairness, Cooper should have a pretty reasonable warchest to spend with Cruden, TKB, Lowe, Rennie and Keane all leaving.

Who's got Alex Nankivell's signature? Hopefully Leon's been in his ear not to sign anything while he's in enemy territory!

Keane was in the box next to Rennie right? Needs to change his image.

I thought you Ta$man-ians would be happy with the Chiefs taking in players and coaches that the Crusaders overlook for Fijian/Australian imports ;).

@KiwiMurph The question is, will there still be a club at the end of the season after his departure. It's fucking ridiculous that nobody still knows, particularly the players and their families.

@KiwiMurph makes sense tbh. Results and uncertainty would make it a mutual decision surely?

SARU to announce on 7 July which of their two Super Rugby teams will be axed.

SOUTH AFRICAN RUGBY UNION HAVE CALLED A SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING FOR NEXT MONTH TO CONFIRM WHICH TWO SOUTH AFRICAN FRANCHISES WILL BE AXED FROM THE 2018 SUPER RUGBY COMPETITION.

The meeting will take place in Cape Town on July 7, where the current six South African franchises will be trimmed down to just four.

The General Meeting has the constitutional responsibility for "determining the SA teams to participate in Super Rugby,"

Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby, said the Special General Meeting would decide on a proposal from the Executive Council which, in turn, would have received a recommendation on the participants from the Franchise Committee, whose membership is representatives of the Super Rugby teams.

The proposal will also be debated by the non-franchise committee – comprising the CEOs of the 14 provincial rugby unions – before reaching the Special General Meeting.

@Number-10 so SA seem to be charging ahead with culling 2 teams, yet Aussie appear to be dithering and probably end up fighting to keep thiers...

@taniwharugby Yeah, if the Aussies keep all 5 teams, a Super 16 schedule would be a logistical nightmare. I assume Sanzaar will have some sort of emergency plan for when we end up with 16 franchises, but you'd get a horror schedule, with big differences between the different conferences and, possibly, more travel than now.

Former Hawke's Bay halfback Michael Ruru has re-signed with the Western Force for two more years.

All these Rebels and Force signings that have been announced recently make me wonder what happens to these players if their club is cut from Super Rugby. Is there an out-clause that will be invoked, guaranteeing them a redundancy pay-out? Will they be transferred to other SR teams (and possibly get very little game time as a result)?

@Sapetyvi The ARU has already stated a few months ago that the club to be cut will be either the Rebels or the Force, and not the Brumbies. That's about the only decision they've made in this mess. But who knows, they may backtrack on that earlier decision and not cut a club at all.
