@canefan I've always been a fan of West. It didn't work out for him last year at the Spurs, but I'm happy he's got a ring. He took the massive pay cut last year when he went from $12m in his final year at the Pacers to just over $1m at the Spurs. He was on about the same this season. He was a good role player during the season.

@ACT-Crusader he was an all star for much of his career. What he says about the team is harder in practice to do in pro sports. Hard to check ego and money at the door but the warriors seem to be able to. If Curry opts to take less than the max next season it will be the biggest signal that these guys aim to take less to stay together

It's kind of a shame that KD attracts so much hate, because it distracts from the incredible things this team has achieved. You forget the way they have built over the last five years, drafting Curry, Thompson and Green and adding in guys like Livingston and Iguodala.

They might easily win another 2-3 titles. And we're on track for a fourth Cavs/Warriors finals season barring an injury to Lebron.

@barbarian Curry Thompson and Green. All in the second round. That is legendary

NBA Draft is today. As expected Fultz goes 1 to Philly (who traded up to get the first pick) and Lonzo Ball goes 2 to Lakers.

The other big news is Jimmy Butler has been traded to the T-Wolves to reunite with his old coach Thibs.

Jimmy Butler was traded to every team in the NBA according to different rumour pages on facebook. It seems like every day there were at least two shopped photos of him in different uniforms.

Not particularly excited about the Sun's picks in the draft, and to make matters worse the talk of a trade to liberate Porzingis from NY didn't pan out. If we had his presence in the post along with the exciting young back court we have, we'd be instant playoff contenders again. Sigh.

@canefan Rubbish. Curry and Thompson were both first round lottery picks!

Yeah I watched that 09 draft and Curry went no.7 much to the surprise of many commentators at the time.

It wasn't a very strong draft with Blake Griffin and Harden the only real notables. There was lots of noise around Brandon Jennings given his year in Europe after High School. Jennings was a HS phenom. I think most expected DeRozan to go ahead of Steph.

Two second rounders from that draft that have really pushed on are Danny Green and Patrick Beverley.

    Wow
.... Chris Paul off to Houston.

Paul George traded to OKC for Oladipo and Sabonis.

NBA off season is the best.

OKC has acquired Paul George from the Pacers in a trade for Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis. A good move to take some of the scoring pressure off Westbrook but George is a free agent after next season.

OKC are also talking to Rudy Gay.

Ridiculous money for Blake Griffin, 5 year $173m to stay at the Clips. I'm surprised they could get the insurance for that contract given his injury record.

Loving this offseason so far. Still amazing that Jimmy Buckets is going to the T-Wolves.

What will Heywood do? Boston and Miami knocking on the door big time.

NBA money has come a long way.

J.J Reddick just signed a 1 year deal with the 76ers for $23 million. 10 years ago, he'd be hoping to get that total sum for a 5 year deal.

If Paul wanted a better chance to win I reckon he should have gone to San Antonio. James Harden can't guard anyone and he is a ball dominant player

I read somewhere that Boston are the frontrunners for Heywood.

Quite pleased Griffin isn't coming to the Suns but by jingo, that young back court does need some help up front.

Last throw of the dice before hitting the reset button in OKC.

Or a show of intent they are serious about contending.

The Western Conference is getting even stronger with these trades. GSW will be paying heaps of luxury tax with their max contracts.

I think they need to show serious intent in order to get Westbrook to sign his supermax extension confident that OKC want to make moves to contend
