In regard to the Paris Climate agreement, it seems Turkey might pull out. Their reason is they are not going to get enough money. Not to worry, the other countries that love it so much will pony up the cash - won't they??
No really? The many only signed up to get wedges of cash from the few??? Who woulda thought...

@Gary You are correct. My mistake.
I have corrected it with this quote from the article
".....the revelation that four of the seven memos included some sort of classified information opens a new door of inquiry into whether classified information was mishandled, improperly stored or improperly shared. "

so it seems chump jr and others met with a russian promising dirt on clinton, and 'forgot' to mention this earlier? they don't help themselves much, do they.
So what? This is another example of nothing being made into something by a desperate left.

I was at a hospital waiting room with my wife yesterday and this "scoop" was breathlessly revealed on the tv in front of us. My wife, who thinks Trump is utterly repulsive, turned to me and said the equivalent of "wtf was that?"
Indeed. How tf is this even news?

There is an investigation into the possibility of trump campaign and russian collusion to influence an election result, and there appears to be evidence of trump jr going to a meeting with a Russian lawyer specifically to get damaging information re the opposing candidate, with others from the trump campaign. Now seems to be he was told in advance it was russian government sourced. He forgot to mention it previously, despite the investigation.
And you ask why that is news?
It's still quite possible that the meeting was nothing, but it is most definitely news. -

Btw Trump has hardly been acting like a Kremlin stooge recently. Maybe it's all a cunning ruse.

Nah.It is not possible it was nothing.. it was nothing. Has anyone claimed they talked about anything interesting?

@reprobate said in US Politics:
So someone can go to a meeting with the intention of getting damaging information about a candidate from a foreign government, i.e. colluding, and that is nothing.
That isn't collusion. What if the information the person had was showing criminal wrongdoing by Clinton? Smells more like a set up than anything else,. and that begs the question why? Perhaps so that they go get a FISA warrant to wiretap another campaign? Seems more like a meeting set up by a group paid to do dirty politics on Trump.
The whole thing is just a farce and media/Democrat beat up.
-
@Baron-Silas-Greenback if the russian government has acquired damaging information about a politician that is not public, then it would be a fair assumption that it had been obtained by illegal means. to then engage with their representative with the intention to receive and use that information in an election campaign would be, pretty much by definition, collusion.

see this i find irritating. at no point have i ever said, or even suggested, that trump is a kremlin stooge. to my knowledge, nobody on here has said that at all - and several have been quite specific in stating that is not what they think - but you keep saying stuff like this, suggesting that is what we think. it is not.

Calm down. I have never said nor have I thought that even the biggest Trump hater here believes any of this Russia bullshit. You might desperately want it to be true but you know it isn't.
So what does that say about the media that continues to peddle this insane nonsense?

calm down yourself, i don't desperately want anything to be true. in fact i would strongly prefer for no collusion to have taken place; i wouldn't take pleasure in people i disagree with politically doing illegal things, and that you think that says more about your political polarisation than anything else.
i also don't really see any media claiming that trump is a kremlin stooge. CNN, which you think is a far left source, doesn't say that. they focus on the russia investigation a lot, they are clearly anti-trump, but they don't say that. -

There's something very weird going on with the anti-Trump / pro-Collusion-narrative media.
It's like they think that the accusation of "collusion" all this time was simply alleging that someone connected to Trump talked to someone connected to Russia about something that might be helpful to Trump's campaign or damaging to Hillary.
That's not what the collusion narrative has been about.
The accusation of collusion has centered around the claim that Trump's campaign coordinated with Russia to carry out the hack of the DNC and Podesta and/or set the timing of the release of that information to WikiLeaks and DNCLeaks.
This meeting between Trump Jr. and this Lawyer (who seems to be connected to Fusion GPS) is a complete non-story. If this were what the whole collusion narrative had been alleging then 1) it would have been completely irrelevant even if true, and 2) Hillary's campaign would have been UNQUESTIONABLY guilty.
The fact that people in the media are running with this shows that they are DESPERATE to keep the collusion narrative going and think (probably rightly) that their audience is stupid enough to have lost track of what the accusations of "collusion" were actually about in the first place.
And I'll say it now. Trump and his admin' will not be sitting idly while all this mischief has been going on.
Just off the top of my head I expect following issues will be looked into -
- Loretta Lynch obstruction of justice
- possible illegal unmasking
-James Comey leaking - FISA overreach
-Hillary email investigation will likely be re-opened
-illegal leaking within govt.
-the evidentiary basis for surveilling Trump in the first place (was there any or was it made up using Fusion GPS)
It's almost as if they are desperate because they know what s coming.
-
@Frank jesus. there isn't an accusation of collusion frank, there is an investigation.
the intelligence agencies believe that there was russian involvement in trying to influence the election, in several ways as i understand it. the investigation is to determine whether the trump campaign were aware of this or played any part / cooperated with this effort.the appropriate response from an american politician who is approached by a russian saying they have political dirt from the russian government is not to say 'sure i'll take that meeting, gimme the dirt, we can use that'. and then conveniently 'forget' all about it while there is a russian election involvement investigation going on.
it is to report it to the authorities.all your other issues have nothing to do with this.

What? Govt get information on other govt politicians all the time! Clinton was Sec of State ... of course they spied on her. The US spies ALL the time. They even spy on allies!
Is all that intelligence gathering illegal? Absolutely not. Perhaps they were going to share some information they hacve on record about her dodgy dealings in Russia? You know the Clinton's have had massive interaction with Russia?
You can claim collusion all you want, but it is no closer to being proved today than it was a year ago. -
