Jacinda has rebranded the Labour campaign as "relentless optimism".
Kelvin Davis this morning:
"We all know about the Jacinda effect - pure optimism. When we look over at the other side there and we see a Prime Minister with the personality of a rock.
"We have got Jonathan Coleman the doctor of death, we have got Steven Joyce who is as authentic as a $4 Rolex, we've got Gerry Brownlee who has got the energy of a small hill, we've got Simon Bridges - the only person under 80 who still buys Brylcreem, and Judith Collins, look her stare caused that ice shelf in Antarctica to crack off and float away."
So, same old Labour then...

@Tregaskis that and the fraudster just emphasises why most Kiwis think politicians are overpaid childish fuckers who are out of touch with the people who's votes they want.

@taniwharugby Bagging the opposition didn't work for Hillary Clinton

Damn you. I can't believe I clicked onto that drivel
I don't bother with Brafbury normally but this week it's been hilarious.

The Nats will hope that the electorate see them as stable custodians as opposed to stale fuddy duddies in the face of these fresh faces in opposition (assuming Turei walks). It remains to be seen how much it moves the needle come election time but perception can win or lose you an election these days

Yep, and be careful on here. This forum tends to be a bit centre/centre right -- who here picked the Greens to increase their vote over Meteria's DPB admissions?
If Jacindamania can last 5-6 weeks, it's all on due to the big advance voting that goes on these days. Will be interesting to see how the glow lasts when there are actual debates, and when policies are discussed. So far it's been a cult of personality.

Isn't that what politics has evolved to now? John Key was constantly in the limelight, he was very good at handling the media whereas Bill gives the impression he doesn't really care for it. I mean he's barely in the regular news cycle. Some might say that is a good thing but it doesn't capture the attention of wavering voters. I have a couple of individual sources that say English is a funny engaging guy in private but this doesn't translate. Trump showed how far public perception can take you
