Karate tonight. As the last grading was on the weekend, tonight it was basics followed by a lot of self-defense, which was fun. Jeez I wish I'd known some of this stuff on the rugby field though - would have come in very handy.

Got home and did hundred pushups Week 4 Day 2 for the first time in a while...

Set 1: 25 OK
Set 2: 29 OK and in fairly good time
Set 3: 25 OK with minimal rest at top.
Set 4: 25 OK but started to fatigue badly - several rests at top so extended the rest period in 120s
Set 5: 28 OK, 8 on knees.

While the form probably wasn't the greatest, I've made an executive decision to finally move on to Week 4 Day 3.

Incidentally I've passed the 3000 mark on the app recording of my efforts, not including the ad hoc pushups I do in other workouts.

7 km tonight - wasn't really feeling up to it after I got up early to go donate plasma, then had a day on the road doing site visits.

37:42 - jeez! Took nearly a minute out of the previous best, upping the speed from 10.9 km/h to 11.1 km/h - average of 5:23 per km for those playing at home. Nothing in particular I did differently, except to cut one corner off the third km, so I could finish closer to home.
Another 7 km run tonight, taking the total for the week to 35 km.

Time was 38:30 (pretty much the same as Monday - 10.9 km/h) which was largely due to me being stuffed after the 5am start today. Was so tired I feel asleep at the pool during kid #1's swimming lesson. In my defense it's pretty warm in there...
Guy on the left will live a lot longer than the one on the right. Great work.

Showed that to the wife and she just nodded shrugged and said "yep...".
You want to ask why they didn't say anything, then realise it wouldn't have made a difference to the person you were back then. The drive to change cannot come from anyone else.

I'll do one of them on NY Day which will be a year, although losing ~10kg, I dont think mine seems as noticable, we'll see... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eusa_think.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Keep in mind that I didn't start measuring stuff until August 2011, but I reckon around the time of that October 2010 photo I'm easily over 120kg.

Was probably close to 130kg on my wedding day... :|

Run tonight - 7.1km in 38:22 (11.1km/h or 5:24/km).

That officially completes marathon week, though my eating was not great this week due to snacks so the scales won't be my friend tomorrow I suspect... I'll go for a 5km in the morning before weigh-in and we'll see.

Too tired for a run this morning, so just slept in and then weighed in.
93.0kg, Chest 107cm, Waist 97cm, Hips 103

So a new low marker for weight and waist, though the bathroom scales were a bit farken mental, varying anywhere up to 300g. I took the most consistent reading.
Today: 94.5kg, Chest 107cm, Waist 97cm, Hips 102cm

Chances are the scales were probably lying a bit last weekend, bit I also had a poor eating effort this week in terms of snacks.

But fuck it - I ran a marathon this week 🙂

    Totals for December so far:

Distance: 42.15 km (technically short of the 42.195 km stated as marathon distance, but fuck it)
Total time: 3:51:22
Average speed: 10.93 km/h
Average pace: 05:29 per km

Big night Saturday - friend had her 40th so nice pub restaurant in Paddington where I had (in order around the bloody awesome food) red wine, beer, beer, white wine, white wine, white, red, red, red, red, red, coffee. After that we headed up to World Bar at the Cross where one of the lads knew the bar manager - didn't have to queue and no buying drinks! Only got in a couple of jimmy and cokes before hitting the wall and heading back to the hotel around 2.

Got to mention the food for one point in particular: corned beef prepared in a certain way that I can't describe, with watermelon. The way they did it just bloody worked, and I don't know how!

Kings Cross has changed. Lot more people than I remember just hanging out on the street because they can't get into venues. That many people and alcohol and its no wonder the place gets violent.

So Sunday was a bit dusty - no exercise all weekend in effect. Slept 12 hours last night and am pretty much recovered. Tonight I mowed the lawn and now I'm back into it - hundred pushups Week 4 Day 3 (120s rest standard)

Set 1: 29 OK
Set 2: 33 OK
Set 3: 29 OK, but HARD
Set 4: 29 OK, had to slow right down and strain from 23 onwards
Set 5: 30 OK - straining from 18, 10 on knees.

Give it two days and I'll do the 4 week end test. Can't say my form is anything spectacular, but at least I'm getting to the floor if not going all the way to the top.

Myotatics and cat vomits to finish - bit hard after a week of no dedicated abs.

Legs were feeling neglected, so did a two minute hold in shiko-dachi - need to get the legs strong as I plan to grade orange early next year, then green later in the year. The pain I had in the right knee last week is fine thank fuck.
Karate tonight. Not much going on there physically but was good to clear the mind. Bit of sparring for a change too.

Floats when I got home:

30s hold, 30s rest
60s hold, 60s rest
60s hold, 60s rest
60s hold, 30s rest
30s hold, 30s rest
Then alternating 10s hold and 10s relax for the next 2.5 minutes. Dunno why, just wanted to try it. Not hard so I tried hold 15, rest 5 for another two minutes. That was effort but after the previous floatage I'm not surprised.
I have weighed in 93.8kg the last 4 times I have weighed in...

have a few mates doing various things (funny how we have all, on our own got the fitness bug around the same time) which is motivating me to push it.

I know a few guys as well who are suddenly into it. I think it's because we've all had our kids and suddenly find we have a little time, as well as realising that time is running out 🙂
Have been in the dog house the last three days. Suspect I know what it is for but I've asked her twice what is up, and if she doesn't want to say, and doesn't want to stop her pissed off demeanour, then it is clearly beyond my powers to resolve (or her desire to resolve it). Doesn't help that The Red Baron is due in town next week either by my estimation.

Because of the tension and attitude, my eating has gone to shit - like I used to comfort eat back in the day, but not near as bad. I've pretty much given up any weight goals for this year beyond staying under 95. As the father of a friend once said: they're strange cattle.

Anyway, just got time to do my hundred pushups end of week 4 assessment: 41 pushups. Just puts me into the "high" bracket for week 5 which sucks in a way, but jeez that is more pushups than I thought I could do two months ago...

Did some weights work too

Chins x 10
Bicep curls x 10 @ 14.25 kg
Military press x 5 @ 50 kg
Arnies on a fitness ball x 9 @ 14.25 kg - trickier than I thought - nearly fell off going for 10, though the shoulders were a bit wrecked from previous exercises
Hammer curls x 10 @ 14.25 kg
Bent rows x 12 @ 50 kg
Pull ups x 5
Wide grip pull ups x 1.5 three times - usually I grip just outside shoulder width for pull ups (narrow for chins) but this was about 1.5 shoulder width. Hard.

That'll do. Early start tomorrow so might get a run in after work.
I've also been doing this now for 16 months on and off. It's getting a damn sight harder to lose weight and see reward for effort. I was really motoring when I wrote this:
Boo-yah! First official weigh-in under 94kg. I feel like I'm in that zone when I was just starting, where everything just seemed to work, and the willpower on the eating was especially good.

I'm also starting to understand just how hard I can work without my old physical limitations, where I don't think I really did before.

Need to keep driving that right through to Christmas.
But I'm just not feeling it. Hotter weather, marital issues, Christmas functions, other dipshit at work. Fucking frustrating.

I think what I'd like to do is just throw everything in the pack and go bush for a couple of nights
