I wonder if this would've happened if Auckland weren't a shambles?

@tim Throw the Blues in there as well. They basically have 3 journeyman hookers. Great....

@kiwimurph Don't know if Sauni would end up better than their three though? Apasi is pretty highly rated isn't he?

So looks like he was living in Oz, already in their system, yet came back for one year and made the U20s.

And he's happy to play for whoever of NZ, Oz and Samoa wants him - hmmm, I think we can take a pass on this guy anyway.

From what i've seen Apisai is more journeyman than star. He is still young though and now has a clearer path to gametime than at the Canes so i'll give him that.

No big loss here. Apasai is a lot better player, I doubt JP wld have been an NPC player.
This just happens to be a case out of blue and no way he Cld see himself cracking a super squad inNZ in the foreseeable future

Not quite super rugby, but I couldn’t be bothered starting a new thread.

    Stuff

George Smith in the gun. A friend of a friend (rugby player) was arrested a few years ago and (seriously) it led to the resignation of the coach. Pretty serious about their discipline over here so I’m watching this one with interest...

@tim I think Hodgson retired, very young though, what about McCalman? A couple of quality rugby players to not have a gig. I'd be happy if the Chiefs took either.

I've been thinking about what the Highlanders will do post Sopoaga, and I think their best short term option is to hunt a decent 10 from overseas. I just don't see anyone in NZ at the moment, ready strategically to step into a starting role. Josh Ioane has a similar game to Lima, but I feel he's some way off yet. Time for the management team to dust off the cheque book, and to sign someone with a bit of experience.

@southernmann Isn't Marty Banks only on a one year contract at Trevisio?

Otherwise your best bet might be Gatland.

Starting to understand why the Blues have struggled eh?

I hear that Cipriani will be looking for a new gig 🙂

Experience is overrated. That is how you end up with Chris Noakes as your 10.

By 2019 Josh Ioane and Fletcher Smith would have had another year in the setup.

I agree Mitchell Hunt would be a very likely and very good target though - Highlanders and Ta$man have a very close relationship - isnt Mitchell Drummond's old man ( Ta$man family) on the board of the Highlanders?

@kiwimurph yep, it's not as if Sopoaga was Mr Experience when he took the reigns. Ioane, step on up!
