It’s apparently wrong to speak ill of the dead so I’ll refrain from pointing out what an amoral prick he was and how he duped the various parties of the alliance into joining purely for their funding capacity and threatened to resign when they made a fuss about how they were treated by him.

I never vote radical left but you are wrong there although it fits with your historic posting, so not surprising.

I played rugby as a kid for Sydenham, Jim would give the end of year speech. He could hold a room, great sense of humour.

Another Sydenham man on the forum! There’s a few of us on here.

Have also seen him speak, he was very impressive.

    It begins..

Still remember catching the cranberries at the super top over 20 years ago. Only knew the song Zombie which I’m pretty sure was why 75% of those attending came to hear as well. Trouble is the bastards didn’t play it till last!

Unbelievable. I had their first two albums but enjoyed the first. Linger was probably my favourite. Saw them under the Mt Smart Supertop back in the day

Probably happens with a lot of artists, a mate went to Steve Earle and some tard near him up the front kept calling out “ play copperhead road “ until he snapped , stopped playing and gave a piece of his mind.
I love that Radiohead’s singer loathes Creep and all but refuses to sing it as it’s the only song of theirs I like and I think they are hugely overrated.

Back to the Cranberries, their music still sounds great to me. I’m not sure what she’s been doing lately musically but she had a hell of a voice and 46 is far too young .

@jegga Crowded House hated Something so Strong and barely played it. IMHO these so called hated songs made these guys millions of dollars from fans who love them and they should just suck it up and play the farking songs

Yep , there’ll come a time when no one gives a fuck about them and they’ll be happy to have an audience . They won’t be so picky then I bet.

I noticed Crowded House were perfectly happy to play it during the reunion concert at the Sydney Opera house last year. Sanctimony left when the money and fame dried up perhaps

A lot of bands refuse to play popular songs from their catalogue for a variety of reasons. Depending on the band I often prefer them to play more deep cuts than just a greatest hits gig.

    Anyway, RIP Dolores.

Did the money really dry up for Finn? I assume he's doing alright.

I'm sure he's doing fine from the royalties alone. He's probably just mellowed over time coz he even seemed to vaguely enjoy it

Pretty hard not to hear the Cranberries in any party I went to back in the 90s. Never realised how hot she was.

I can't bring myself to say anything good about the music or her voice but RIP nonetheless.

He probably is with the royalties off two bands and recording studio.

His brother was in a band with the singer from the Hothouse Flowers .years ago I was listening to him in a radio interview telling this bizarre story about how the hothouse flowers singer got dumped by O’Riordan and he didn’t take it very well and got up on stage drunk singing and wearing a dress she’d left at his house. There was s disparity in size between the two of them and it was not something anyone wanted to see. These days footage of it would be viral in about 30 minutes.

I went to U2 360 a few years back. They played a decent amount of fringe stuff, like Miss Sarajevo, and were quite light on the radio hits. I enjoyed it but my mate was most unhappy about the lack of hits. I'm sure he was representative of a large proportion of the audience who paid a lot of money and wanted to hear the well known stuff

I went to the same concert, and that was my one and only U2 concert. I would have liked to hear some of my favourites (e.g., The Unforgettable Fire) but most of the hits were played including “One Tree Hill”.

The worst part of that concert was having Jay-Z as the opener. Talk about a mismatch.

I remember hearing he was opening for them , thought it was weird. Two very different types of music.

Didn't Kanye West open for them on a previous tour? Weird
