"East Waikato" or alternatively "Southern Thames Valley"
Te Aroha is actually the provincial capital of southern Thames Valley. -

Hmmmmmmmm why did I think it was part of the Waikato ? that kind of talk might get me lynched up that way !
It is and it isn't. Right on the county line. We are Piako/Waikato for local government and services, Waikato zoned in the phone directory (lumped in with Matamata and Mortinsville) and Coromandel electorate for voting!!!

All local sports clubs (from junior through to senior) either play in the Waikato or Valley! For example last year my son competed in both the Valley and Waikato regional athletics meets! He also played in the Waikato wide Yr 5/6 Cricket competition and the Valley 7th Grade rugby comp.

Te Aroha really is in no mans land!!!

Best of both worlds really. -
