Not as bad as 2011 but still terrible for some parts of the city. I'm ok where I am but anybody close to the river or a creek must be getting anxious. No rain at the moment but concerns about high tide tonight.

I've always been dismissive of people who say they dont have time to train and for the most part its true but fark me I've been pushed pretty close the past month. With starting a new business, renovating an entire house and looking after my sons and heirs, training has been very tough. Mostly I don't get started unitl 10pm or later. Last Thursday I didnt start until about midnight. Not ideal at all and certainly better than nothing but its a far cry from the psycho PT and that awesome training regime.<br />

At the moment am trying to do 6 shorter sessions a week. Thats 4 with weights and 2 crossfit. Weights are pretty much all 10-12 rep supersets with 30sec/1min rest. Don't have any real equipment for doing legs so crossfit is big on stepups, box jumps and thrusters.<br />

Diet is back on track in a big way. Awesome (and cheap) chicken breast here plus great veggies, eggs and other clean food. Diet is basically as follows.<br />
<br />
Breakfast: Oats with protein power plus 3-4 eggs (boil six and eat as many as I can before driving spawn to school)<br />
Mid-morning: Rest of eggs and rye bread with peanut butter.<br />
Lunch: Chicken breast (cook heaps) with brocoli and rice/sweet potato/pumpkim<br />
Afternoon: Celery with peanut butter and protein shake. Maybe some more chicken<br />
Dinner: Chicken or maybe some pork, brocolli/veggies. Maybe rice or noodles if asian.<br />
Evening: Usually after late workout. Protein shake and remainder of chicken.<br />

This allows me to hammer treat day which is pretty epic in Brisbane.<br />

Hopefully things will calm down in the next few weeks so I can join a gym and start training properly. My new place is close to a YMCA (It's fun to say its the YMCA...) and right next to the kids' school so should be ideal. -

Cheers. I think this a great forum and certainly helps you keep track of training and keeps you motivated. Will hopefully have more structure in a couple of weeks.<br />

One thing that I find astonishing here in the Sunshine State is the number of fat farkers. In Norway the health minister is bitching about people training more and eating better etc, but your average Norwegian is in far better shape than the average QLDer. Some of the women in particular are massive. Incredible paradox but it seems that the warmer the weather the fatter the population. -

The social cycle I've noticed had changed a lot - with the housing and/or mining boom, more families have to get two incomes and work longer hours. This means less time for play as weekends are given over to work. The first thing to go is outdoor play, and now with widespread home entertainment like online movie rental and consoles, play indoors is a lot easier to accept.<br />

The irony is they're working for the great Aussie dream - a house with a back yard - but they don't have time or energy to use that yard. -

Hmmm. People probably have less time but fark me if those shopping centres arent packed every weekend rain, hail or shine. Seems to me too that some of the fattest farkers are the ones with the most time on their hands. I reckon the indoor entertainment is massive factor. Before there was only crap telly to watch inside but now you have a world of entertainment literally at your fingertips, not to mention computer games that I could only dream about as a kid. Fast food is also a problem but were the diets so much better before? I recall plently of battered fish and chips on Friday evenings and plenty of pies and sausage rolls. The school tuckshop had far more cråp than what my sons are offered now. I guess the difference was that I was always on the go and my parents used to literally throw me outside. Whatever the cause its pretty bloody alarming. -
Another hectic week and 2 sessions after midnight but all good. Pretty intense programme with training 6 days a week. Amazing how much better you can feel after a good workout even if you felt like death beforehand.<br />

Nice crossfit of: 3 x 100 step ups, 7 thrusters, 15 burpees and 30 situps. Gets up a sweat that one. -

Never learned to MAKE time for exercise, spending their youth and natural metabolic activity on drinking and posting. Then once you're a fat adult, everything takes longer to do, so making time is even harder. -
Since my training has experienced something of a recharge recently I thought I'd resuscitate this thread. Its not that I haven't been training. Ive been training regularly and the diet has been ok. But the focus just hasn't been there. The wife had the big C last year and obviously things have been incredibly stressful. It was difficult to keep my head above water, but I have to say that training was an effective way of clearing my head for about an hour a day. But, yeah, there hasn't been much structure and I did it because I felt I had to, rather than really wanting to.<br><br>Now, hopefully, we're getting a fresh start and can move on.<br><br>Anyway, I have restructured the training and am enjoying it once more. I'm done with any complicated programmes, I've decided to keep it simple. I'm also going to relax a bit on the diet, but will up the cardio.<br><br>Basically it goes:<br><br>Monday: Chest<br>Tuesday: Arms<br>Wednesday: Cardio/running<br>Thursday: Back/legs<br>Friday: Shoulders<br>Saturday: Cardio/running<br>Sunday: Cardio/boxing<br><br>Been at this for about 3 weeks and am feeling really good. Due to 24 hour gym I'm also mixing up the training times so I don't have to rip myself out of bed in the morning if I'm really not up for it. Feel I've found a good balance now.

Missed a couple of days here.<br><br>Wednesday was running day. Was pinned down with shit to do, so didn't get out until about 9:45. Still, its amazing how much easier it is to run at night as opposed to the morning. Did a bit of a Forest Gump and "just kept on running". Must have been out for a good 40 minutes. Pretty uneventful apart from a very low-flying bat. Actually, it was a flying fox which are much bigger and ten-times more disgusting.<br><br>Should then have slept like a log, but my 6 year old had his usual disturbed night and must have woken me up at least 5-6 times during the night. It was bloody worse than when he was a baby. So I was shattered the next day and that plus too much work meant I took a "rest".<br><br>Friday: Back to the gym. Had to combine back and shoulders, which I don't normally like to do, but I felt good afterwards:<br><br>Shoulder press<br>Side raises<br>Front raises<br>Lat pulldowns<br>Front rows<br>Deadlifts<br>Abs<br>Shoulder press

Getting slack, have to keep up.<br><br>Saturday: Due to cyclone up north there was a shed load of rain. Decided to run anyway, which brought me back to my years in Norway and made me gland that I no longer live there.<br><br>Sunday: Had people over for a BBQ, had work to do and felt knackered most of the day. Did 200 situps but that was halfarsed. Should have boxed but was too tired to lace the gloves. Pretty pathetic effort all round.<br><br>Monday: Had a pretty good sleep and then had an excellent chest day. Particularly good session that one.<br><br>Today: Arm day. Normally the gym is pretty empty in the morning, but for some reason it was pretty packed today. Was pretty farking grumpy about that since one of the reasons I train early is to have some peace and quiet and not have to wait in line. Due to the crowds I was reduced to the bicep curl machine to start with, but after a while I could move freely. Not the best session, but not the worst.

<p>Was a pretty shocking week last week. Maximum stress and then some. Training ain't much fun with not enough sleep and eating on the run. Anyway, all the way back:</p>

<p>Wednesday: Terrible day, didn't get out for a run until almost 11pm. Went ok, in fact these evening runs are pretty easy compared to the morning ones. Trouble with running so late is that after shake, shower and a bit of relax its already way passed midnight.</p>

<p>Thursday: Very late once more. Hit the gym at about 10:30. Thank you 24 hour gym technology. Was an ok session. Really like Deadlifts.</p>

<p>Friday: Another shocker and couldn't get out this time since wife was out until late. Decided to relax a bit with whatever crap was on TV. Didn't realise Canes were playing until 20 minutes from the end.</p>

<p>Saturday: Pretty good night's sleep, and makeup day for yesterday. Shoulders and legs. Really really good workout this one. Gave me a massive boost that lasted well throughout the day. Got a heap of stuff done. Had a very rare night out for dinner. Was a good day but a bit too late in bed.</p>

<p>Sunday: Had a nice evening run. Might have to extend this a bit as its getting a bit too easy. Really should be doing boxing and burpees on Sundays, but during the day I'm just too farked to even think about it. Maybe next week.</p>

<p>Monday: Chest. Can't really go wrong with chest. Just smash those boobies from different angles and you feel it the next day.</p>

<p>Tuesday: Arms. Not too bad. 2xbiceps, 2xtriceps, then BT superset.</p>

<p>Only Tuesday so far, but feeling good. Hopefully its a better week.</p>
