    Koula Tukino

Whatever happened to that joker? He looked the part but then literally vanished off the face of the earth ( even in the early 2000s if was usually pretty easy to find out if someone had gone overseas but not him, he was like a ghost )

    Awesome player when in form.

I believe he ended up in Italy for a while. Not very professional but Mitchell got him sorted for a while. When Counties had that shit season before relegation he didn't turn up to the last game against Auckland.

    @rancid-schnitzel

Nowhere near Deon Muir if that is the metric for selection.

I've revised some of my selections from earlier, after reading @mariner4life 's and @Bovidae 's teams (i.e., taking things a bit more seriously).

Much of the spine of my team comes from the title winning side now, so TKB moves back to start, with Messam, TKB, Cruden, SBW the heart of the attack. Sona and Ben T have to come from the bench,

I still can't get Holah starting, without moving Cane, which I'm loathe to do, so he'll have to come off the bench with Lauaki.

Jono to start and captain from six, which means Messam moves to eight. Old school front row, with plenty of impact from the bench. Jono covers lock, and we can let Lauaki have 20-30 fun minutes, especially if we are playing the Blues.

Kahui (and SBW) covers wing, and I wanted a place for Little, but he's the first name I'd switch out.

    1 Michael Collins
    2 Tom Willis
    3 Nathan White
    4 Keith Robinson
    5 Brodie Retallick
    6 Jono Gibbes (c)
    7 Sam Cane
    8 Liam Messam
    9 TKB
    10 Aaron Cruden
    11 Sitiveni Sivivatu
    12 SBW
    13 Kahui
    14 Bruce Reihana
    15 Mils Muliaina
    16 Hika Elliot
    17 Sona Taumalolo
    18 Ben Tameifuna
    19 Marty Holah
    20 Sione Lauaki
    21 Byron Kelleher
    22 Beaver
    23 Walter Little

Leonard is unlucky, as is Stormy, who I love, but I can't find a place for him. Umaga too, who was getting old by the time he showed up, plus Bunce (same problem, really), and Osbourne, who I don't think really turned out for us many times. Lomu only scored a handful of tries in one season, so he technically has to go too. I'm still tempted to keep Mealamu because I remember him being amazing in his one season with us. Reihana moves to the wing, because I want a FB/wing - even thought he didn't play that much there, which makes Randle probably one of the most unlucky.

Surely Kelleher starts ahead of TKB? I know TKB was there during the glory days but TKB isn't in the same league as BK as an attacking scrum-half.

Yes, but I like his potential impact of the bench, while TKB might be one of the best defensive HBs ever. They could be switched pretty easily though. Leonard is unlucky, because he would be good at that role and is the third HB in my squad.

I see what you did there!

Willis was bloody good for both Waikato and the Chiefs, and Hika is a centurion. Nuff said.

The last Te Rapa club game I watched was when I went to watch Mils returning from a shoulder injury. Kahui was also playing that day.

That's one thing the older guys at Te Rapa miss, being able to play with and against higher level players. I just missed playing with Sivivatu when I was at Frankton although we were his club at the time.

A couple of years ago at Te Rapa we had a Pre season game against Otorohanga B's while their A squad was away at a camp. It was a surprise to see Liam Squire having a run.

Apparently he's a good guy to have a feed with according to old mate @jegga, have you heard that story?

That's how club rugby seems to be now, unfortunately. There aren't as many veterans playing, much less former ABs. That's why it was great to see Holah still playing for Marist a few years ago.

Speaking of Siti, I also went to watch him play a game for Frankton on a heavy and muddy Swarbrick Park when he needed to prove his fitness to be selected for the ABs after an injury. He carved the opposition up from centre. Anesi also turned up to see him in action. I don't know how many other games he played for them.

Sivi played all of 40 mins for TA sports, I believe. Still makes my hometown team though.

I know Sivi played in both A and B games. Before he left, Tameifuna had a few games for Suburbs in Division 1 rugby. I heard from a guy who was part of the management that year that he asked to play at first five for a game. Dunno if that happened or not.
