A guy from the Roar website (in Aus) messaged me last week on instagram asking if they could share the vid I posted of Phin last week.

They did and added a sweet slow mo in which you can actually see the steps he put on

So after having his arm in a cast for a week, TR Jnr went back to hospital last week and we saw the 'head Othopedic Surgeon, who had it removed, got the impression if we had seen him the week before, he'd not have had it put in a cast!

Said the x-rays showed there was still bruising there, and this could take several more weeks to go away.

I had suggested he not play on the weekend, but he was adamant he was, so I strapped it up and on Saturday he played half a game for his team and made tackles using that arm and then played another half game on Sunday in his pre-Taniwha Shield tournament game vs Hokianga up at Taheke.

So he is pretty stoked, after 10 days ago fearing he may not play again until after the school holidays!

TR Jnr is away at the Taniwha Shield (Northland wide U13 under 57kg at INtermediate tournament) this week. I went up for first game yesterday, and he is playing today, and it dawned on me this morning, that since he was 5, this was the first game I wont be there to watch him play, and is quite nerve racking waiting for someone to text me the result (game finished about 10 mins ago...)

edit: got a text from him saying they won 70-12. Appears a bit of a big gap between the top 4 and bottom 4 teams with the top 4 winning 91-5, 70-0, 70-12, 43-5, the team he plays tomorrow have won 69-0 and 70-0.

Another bit of action from the weekend.

Actually picked up trophy for tackler of the day and was huge on defence and saved 2 or 3 tries in a pretty tight game

edit - not gonna lie but I thought he was short lol

@jk so they play right through the holidays or just have the middle weekend off?

Ours was the middle and last weekend no play, although we postponed our game on 1st weekend due to rep players in both teams and the weekend prior was cancelled due to weather so now be first game in weeks this weekend.

Yesterday we woke to the revelation that Miss TA has reached a particularly uncomfortable milestone in her young life. She's not even 11 until October and now this shit happens.

Still, justifies my position on NOT taking either of the womenfolk snow camping Friday week.

    Eight-year-olds now wear bras.

its' a weird world. Friend is a paediatric endocrinologist, so they see ... all the early and late onset puberty issues. 10/11 doesn't seem totally abnormal, but try having these chats with an 7/8 year old.

The world we live in seems more and more farked. And I can't even blame the refs for it.

Good call , the scent of blood attracts alpine drop bears. Damn near impossible to see with their winter coats too.

    @jegga yeah exactly.

Can't tell me that - when they start bitching at 15C for me to put the heater on - they're going to have any fun at -6C!

I hate to be the one to break it to you but sometimes the point isn't in fact for them to have fun but instead to ensure you don't.

Ok. This now becomes the Dad skiting thread.

Ms. Boo Jr is into her Netball Grand Final on Saturday.

Actually coincides with her 15th birthday:The 1st of Spring!

It's kinda of small town (just 4 teams in the div) and political (long story) but a great bunch of girls.

    They really deserve a win.

And I'm the best team manager ever: I do the funniest team emails ... 🙂

    Nervous as a kitten.

    And so is Brooke
