Retallick of course, then Goodhue and Naholo. With the notable exception of his brain explosion (spear tackle on Folau), Naholo was awsome. But he has not a lot of fans here in the Silverfern forum.

Retallick easily man of the match. ALB and Naholo just ahead of B Barrett for others.

Hard to see how other teams will combat AB second half onslaughts this year, due to the athleticism of several forwards and instinctive interplay of backs finding space - once they have tired out opposition starters.

I’m a Naholo fan and have even had the shining armour ready to go, but I thought he a very mixed bag last night. His decision making is a very iffy at this level. Not talking about that tackle, it’s the ruck play and positioning on D.

I picked Goodhue because he was solid on defense and for his first appearance did not put a foot wrong. Barret is always a game changer and his cross kick and try shows his impact. Same with Naholo. Makes mistakes but also had two tries and is a game changer. Can not underestimate what game changers like Barret and Naholo and Iaone have on a game.

Naholo scored a fantastic try and ripped the ball from Koroibete's hands which led to Goodhue's try. This was the game's turning point. I did not see him make too many mistakes. He was greatly involved in both halves too.

It' a mark of how depressed and resigned to defeat Wallaby supporters are that they aren't more outraged about that. Koroibete was clearly tackled and Naholo had to release.

@antipodean reckon they have a similar argument for the one BBBR ripped in the lead to his try too.

That's a law that is randomly refereed. In the Magpies v Southland game yesterday Nutbrown was completely inconsistent with it and would penalise someone for no release in one movement and then a couple of movements let it go completely.

@nepia part of it is that alot of happens either simultaneous with the ruck ball call or +/- a sec and the ref makes his call.

You're theoretically right - but by that argument, a 'tackle' should be ruled whenever a knee touches the ground. Refs don't - I think they should, but I'm out a limb.

Also, if you're meant to release someone, how the fark do you have 'not held' calls.

For me, Naholo was within his rights, the way the game is reffed these days. No major with the no call.

Yep - if anything, that was worse as he went to ground with Genia.

It was still a superb piece of thievery though. And I do have some sympathy for requiring ball carriers to actually hold onto the pill themselves.

A gif was posted on GAGR with someone having a little whine. After watching it I actually thing Naholo was in his rights as he didn't even make a tackle. The ball carrier went to ground voluntarily.

Cant post the gif here as the file size is too big, but here is a link to the thread page http://www.greenandgoldrugby.com/community/threads/bledisloe-1-saturday-18-august-2018-anz-stadium-sydney.18318/page-28
