    UFC 227

    EARLY PRELIMS

    VERA v BUREN
Great patience from Vera and a super body shot to the liver buckled Buren for the TKO finish

    TAYLOR v ZHANG
Too big and too strong for Taylor

    PEREZ v TORRES
Torres babboozled by Perez's lightning speed & accuracy
Early contender for Fight of the Night

    PRELIMS

    SAYLES v MORAES
Moraes toughs out a unanimous decision in a scrappy fight
Sayles showed his inexperience on his debut
Looking forward to his next fight

    RAMOS v KANG
Evenly matched contest with Ramos edging the decision

    SIMON v JACKSON
Simon too strong, gets the decision

    MUNHOZ v JOHNS
I may be a little biased 😉 but what a fight
Munhoz had the measure of Johns with lead leg and body kicks but Johns is nails
    Had it all
Munhoz deserved winner. He's got it all.
Two losses in a row for Johns but still unfinished in 17 fights
Fight of the Night for me so far

    MAIN CARD

    SANTOS v HOLLAND
Holland dominated by Santos in Round 1. Laughs it off
    Round 2 the tables turned
Then Santos takes the fight back for the win in the third
    Very entertaining fight

    VIANA v ALDRICH
Aldrich too strong for the decision

    SWANSON v MOICANO
Moicano too long for Swanson and makes quick work for the submission finish

    JOHNSON v CEJUDO
Epic battle worthy of a Championship Fight
HUGE WIN for Cejudo on the split decision
Johnson all class in defeat. LEG END

    DILLASHAW v GARBRANDT
    WOW WOW WOW
    Dillashaw is nails

With a card like this boxing can't compete

I watched the main card and really enjoyed it. Had a bit of everything. The Johnson v Cejudo was a bit of a masterclass, technically while I was just on the edge of my seat for the entire Dillashaw v Garbrandt fight because it just seemed like anything could happen. All the main undercard fights had something unique to offer too.

One note on the Swanson v Moicano fight... I don't think I've ever seen that sort of impact from a jab before?

    Yes it was amazing.

Maybe Arlovski v Sylvia 2, when Arlovski jabbed Sylvia half way across the ring

Very sus from USADA. Jon Jones' suspension just happens to end a week before a gigantic Madison Square Garden PPV. UFC is turning into a joke.

    Hardly suss.

Jones gets caught. Has ban. Ban expires. UFC event with newly instated Jones.

If his ban had finished in September he'd be fighting in October.

    Take the tin foil off.

How do you explain the 15 month ban for Jon Jones?

This is not a first time offender, this is a guy who has been caught cheating multiple times, ran away from another drug test, had a DUI etc etc.

    The whole thing completely stinks.

The UFC need $ fights to pay off their debt. Jones = $. Therefore they organise it so Jones comes back early. It's a total farce.

Here is some of the reaction to the decision

That's a USADA problem which the UFC is maximising.

    Like all organisations.

I could care less if we see Jones fight again.

I want to see Jones move to HW and dominate. Dont like him as a person but save for that one fight with Gustafsson he has never really been troubled at LH. So from a purely selfish POV id like to see how he goes with the monsters.

    @mikethesnow

    Prediction?

Al Iaquinta is a decent fighter, but the fact he struck Khabib so many times makes me think it could be an early KO for Conor.. at the same time I don't see Conor getting up if Khabib gets him down and starts mauling him.

The whole fight depends on when the first successful take down is??

@duluth this is a tough one - as UFC is highly dependent on whether or not their head is in the game.

We've seen it before with Rousey, and it shouldn't be underestimated.

I hate tipping against McGregor ... but I'm going to do it!

First and foremost hopefully all the bouts take place. Recent history has me worried about that.

    From the bottom,

    EARLY PRELIMS
Tony Martin; Gray Maynard; Lina Lansberg

    PRELIMS
Alan Patrick; Aspen Ladd; Vicente Luque; Sergio Pettis

    MAIN CARD
Felice Herrig; Derrick Lewis; Ovince Saint Preux; Tony Ferguson

    Conor McGregor

Too quick, too powerful, too smart

    Here are my uneducated guesses:

    Early Prelims

    Ryan LaFlare vs Tony Martin
    Gray Maynard vs Nik Lentz
    Lina Länsberg vs Yana Kunitskaya

    Prelims

    Scott Holtzman vs Alan Patrick
    Aspen Ladd vs Tonya Evinger
    Vicente Luque vs Jalin Turner
    Sergio Pettis vs Jussier Formiga

    Main Card

    Michelle Waterson vs Felice Herrig
    Derrick Lewis vs Alexander Volkov
Ovince Saint Preux vs Dominick Reyes
    Tony Ferguson vs Anthony Pettis
    Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor

I'm expecting the main event to be one sided, but not entirely sure in which direction. Picking Conor because the fight starts on the feet and Khabib can be sloppy against good strikers. One take down might be enough for Khabib though.

    Indeed.

If I was Khabib I would come out fast and go straight for the takedown.

If it meant taking an Aldo shot, so be it.

But if he got McG to the ground in less than 20 secs it's game over.
