Sure, but early season form is also often misleading. It favours players who have great off seasons and pre-seasons. And early season form is oftehn not sustained. For example this time last year Ben Lam was been talked up as an All Black winger.

First time I've seen that on the fern for years! Without a sarcastic tone that is.

Good on ya, it's a nice feeling when the rain finally stops๐Ÿ™‚

Actually, we're seeing the team on an upswing. Still a long way to go, but we're on our way, and I feel far more optimistic than I have for years. The board, the coach and the playing group are starting to deliver. Good to see. Arguing about how good a rookie will be is a discussion we haven't had a lot of over the last few years.

Yeah because no one has ever heard of Gibson, Papalii, hell Perofeta was even dubbed Perofuture.

Nehe Milner-Skudder, Brodie Retallick, Sam Whitelock, Christian Cullen, Conrad Smith and Owen Franks played, and played well for the ABs in their debut Super seasons.

Richie McCaw was so good he got picked before he played Super!

    9 Nov 2001:
England-based Kronfeld said after the team were named that All Black jerseys were being handed out too easily.

"It seems incredible to me that they so easily can put No 7s in ... now they've got a guy off one NPC season," said Kronfeld, once regarded as the world's best openside flanker.

Posted this a day early Jailbreak! No Northland quota in the AB set up. I've been quietly surprised by Robinson as he looked completely out of his depth on debut but has actually held his own in the last couple of fixtures. Still very much the third banana of that back row though Dalton and Akira both look ready for AB starting gigs next year and have a role to play this season too.

It's a lot easier to look good as a loosie if the fatties are working hard too. Just a bit more space to range out wide, rather than getting caught around the ruck tackling

Well one difference is Robinson is actually playing as a rookie instead of either being injured or stuck behind some journeyman like so many Blues rookies in the past. Touch wood it continues.

Agree. But saying he shouldn't play for the AB's this year now as he's only a rookie and it's a WC year, is equally is as ludicrous in my view.

I figured you were talking about hype from posters here about the players.
