Had that yesterday. Yes, very nice. The apple makes the perfect addition.

So pretty intense couple of days. Friday I did back and tris then did 2km of swimming that afternoon. Saturday I did legs and then did 10 Max effort 25m in the pool. Think I deserved my Maccas later in the day. It's cool how they have those screens now so you don't even have to go to the counter. Very efficient.

Squad swimming still on hold until next week so went for run with intervals this morning. Was a bit late out so couldn't make it too long but went OK. Broken record, but fook running is easier than swimming.

I said it was easier not easy 🖕

Shoulders this morning. Went OK. Shoulders is always pretty good. Will hopefully hit the pool this afternoon.

Hit the pool with the boys today. Impressive effort allround. Youngest is a gun at freestyle. Embarrassingly he'll probably cane the eldest soon but eldest still ridiculously good at breaststroke. I suck at the other strokes but have made some serious strides in freestyle. My coach asked me today if I wanted to compete in a club meet in May. As someone who was part of the mongo line-up for swimming at school that is pretty damn weird. Anyway, did 2km and a couple of races. Great workout and nice little bonding session.

Realised it's been almost exactly a year since I posted last Easter about how hard I found it being a single dad and seeing happy families around me. Many thanks again for the kind words expressed at that time. I wasn't in a good place and it helped out alot.
Well a year is a long time and after a rather surreal journey I'm pretty blessed to have found someone who I think I want to continue the next stage of my life with. This Easter was the exact opposite of last year.
When I was left to pick up the pieces 18 months ago, I felt there were 2 things I had to do: (1) Distance myself from negativity and negative people and (2) Focus on the what made me feel good. Exercise and eating right made me feel good and so I decided to make that one area where I didn't let up. I've done that and while it has essentially been a mental health thing, there have been so many other benefits. I also don't think there's any doubt that being fit and healthy helped me out big time in the dating world. The point is that I know from experience that there are multiple positive benefits of regular exercise and good eating. I cringe to think of the state (both mental and physical) I might be in if I hadn't devoted myself to this.

Dude you are more than welcome- it's awesome that the support from the Fern helped (go figure aye!! lol) and that you are in a great space now. You've gone hard with your exercise, and it's been cool to see that pay off in many ways. Your discipline and commitment to looking after yourself and your boys is really admirable bro. No doubt they've learnt heaps from you about dealing with grief and how to move on in a positive way - hopefully they didn't pick up too many tinder/bumble tips though!!
Although you have passed up the chance to have a level 2496 warlock, at least 2 online friends, diabetes and a gunt the size of a small car. Hmmm it's not to late bro!

running is easier than swimming because if you stop running you walk. if you stop swimming you drown. Also being able to breath exactly when you want is a massive advantage to, you know, life.

Thanks mate. Really appreciate it. Just hope to remain injury free and keep at it. The gf and I figure we have 10 good years left before we're officially old so should make the most of them.
There definitely is a positive role model thing for my boys which is great, but my eldest can't walk past a mirror without flexing. Had a sneaky look on his phone and he appears to have 6 girls on the go. That scares me a bit. How early do kids go at it these days? Farked if I want to be a 40 year old grandfather.

Yep. I didn't run for a while and being able to breathe the entire time or breathe without water coming in was pure bliss. Some guy at my son's school was claiming it's easier to swim 1km than run 1km. That's the biggest crock of shit I've ever heard.

Swimming Saturday. Coach decided to go next level and nearly killed me.
20x50m (1.10)
That means the 50m and rest have to be done in 1 minute 10 sec. Which isn't too hard unless you have to do it 20 farking times!
If that wasn't enough, the follow-up was 10x100 (1.40).
Bru farking tal. -

Cheers mate. Was pretty humbling doing it together with 3 15 year olds. 15 year old me wouldn't have even gotten in the water. Doing this swimming has given me a much greater appreciation of what the top level athletes have to put themselves through to get anywhere near the top. No wonder some of them turn to the roids. Imagine putting in all that work, sacrificing everything, devoting your life to that one goal and still getting your arse kicked by someone who is simply better. Makes a mockery of those fatarse sports journalists who rip into athletes who don't do as well as hoped, yet would shit their pants five minutes in to one of their training sessions.

Monday: Swimming again. I was the only adult who showed up so the two 21 year old bastards decided to kill me again. They had me wear something called a drag suit, which is a mesh thing with pockets you wear like you would a pair of speedos. The evil young bastards had me do 18 max effort 25s with that fooking thing on. What the hell have I got myself into!
