I see Crotty as a really important squad member. Someone that can come in and do a job at the drop of a hat, and provide plenty of leadership and guidance to younger guys during the tournament. ALB and Goodue are miles ahead at this stage, and based on form I actually think SBW has looked the best of the power centres so far - I'd have him on my bench if he could just stay fit for more than two games.

@Canes4life I was noticing how “gassed” he looked having to chase (no pun intended) he was blowing a few times which is weird since he’s been training full time with the canes aswell as playing basically full games should have match fitness by now.

@Yeetyaah That may happen in the games against minnows, or if Crotty is injured.

There should be little debate that ALB is a superior player to Crotty, in both talent and form.

On attack, yes... On defense, definitely not

    Saw replay last night.

God what a shit player Jordie Barrett is. And as for Ardie Savea! Why persist with such a limited player. Should be nowhere near the ABs.

@Rancid-Schnitzel The truth is Jordie has been shit for most of the year so people were just calling it the way they saw it. He was outstanding on the weekend however.

There's a big difference between saying someone is playing shit and someone is shit and should be flushed. Thankfully the AB selectors are less inclined to write off players in their early 20s.

Ha ha. He still wasn't at 12 though!
For me, this isn't a Canes thing or Beadie's brother thing. I saw Jordie play for the NZ U20s and Canterbury before he ever signed for the Canes (I assumed he would stay down south) and could see that he was a special talent. It's frustrating when he does stupid shit (unnecessary offloads etc) but the potential is massive and he's still very young. Some people are very quick to throw players on the scrap heap. Just look at Nonu.

    same with Kaino

I can only assume it's this philosophy being applied to coaches that somehow got that marnus the coaching gig at the Chiefs... sht with the Canes, sht with the Maori.. must be due to come right with the Chiefs.

Defensive structure is the biggest issue I have at the moment.. fark knows what they're trying to do - best i can come up with is 'nothing'.. every other team on the planet is working on line speed.. rush D.. or at least pushing the outside players up in an umbrella.. all we're doing is staying in a flat line and giving the oppo 10 metres free time and space to run at us... which they're gladly taking

against the Blues it was horrendous - all they were doing was spinning it wide and finding holes everywhere.

    fcuking annoying to watch.

NZ sees lots of "special" players.

    Sorry, but that's not enough.

Damien McKenzie is plenty special, but that doesn't mean he should start every game.

Another really special player was Rupeni Caucaunibuca. But special really, really isn't enough. The follow through is just as important.

I'm sorry, but that is a bizarre post.
