you watching live Crucial? Wondering how many times the pommy commentators have said "England will back themselves to chase down a big score" ... I'm guessing it'll be 25-50 by now?

All very well saying England can score 360 on this pitch but that doesn't totally account for the fact that England's prime strike bowler got 0 wickets for 79 off 10

Which may add weight to the argument that they will easily get there. Totally benign pitch.

Scoreboard pressure is real though chasing 349

This is from an article on Cricinfo…

England's problems were not limited to the fielding, either. With Adil Rashid proving expensive (he went for 43 from five overs), Eoin Morgan only felt able to allow him five overs. Partially as a result, their over-rate suffered to the extent that there were more than three overs remaining by the time England would have been expected to complete their overs. In all, Pakistan's innings over-ran by 19 minutes.
It's only a few games since Morgan served a one-match suspension for repeated over-rate violations. While there is an amnesty on such issues for global events like this, the possibility that Morgan could be censured again here is very real. While that may only amount to a fine, it will remain on his record and be taken into account should England over-run again. Coming at this stage of the tournament, it is also a real concern. England do not want to be without their captain for the latter stages of the competition.

That doesn't match what the CWC Playing Conditions say.

Over Rate offences during CWC2019 will be penalised in accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct subject to the following: - All Captains shall start CWC2019 with no ‘Minor’ and/or ‘Serious’ Over Rate offences against their names. - A Captain will need to commit 2 ‘Minor’ Over Rate offences during CWC2019 to be suspended from a CWC2019 match, or one ‘Serious’ Over Rate offence during CWC2019 to be suspended from 2 CWC2019 matches

ICC Code for 'Serious' - 2.22.2 where the actual over rate in.....any One Day International Match, Twenty20 International Match or any other International Match of fifty (50) or twenty (20) overs per side, is more than two overs short of the Minimum Over Rate, such an offence shall be considered a “Serious Over Rate Offence”.

England lose an early wicket and waste their review at the same time.

This is going to be a great contest. RR good for England but they are 2 down inside 15 overs.

Like England, I think Pakistan will struggle with their 5th (or 6th) bowler.

    Basher Stokes gooone as well.

Not looking like a great day for Engerland today.

If they can get Buttler cheaply it is surely a lost cause.

Game has certainly turned around now. Pakistan absolutely need to get one or both of Root and Buttler.
118 off 84 required with 4 wickets down.

Buttler still there, closing on a ton off 70 odds balls.

Target 68 from 38 with 5 in hand

Buttler gets the ton and gets out next ball. Cut to the onlooking teammates in the stand looking sick.

Run rate up to 11 for next 5 overs

Pakistan doing enough to keep the pressure on the England bats.
    53 required off 4 overs.

Good watch though as the bat is swinging wildly

Good over helped by some wide bowling.

38 required from last 3 overs. if England ride their luck here they could do it but there is a lot of swing and hope going on.

SA have India next up, so could be 0-3 and staring down the barrel of another embarrassing CWC.

However, they haven't lost that third game yet and even if they do, it's possible Bangladesh could be a force at this tournament in which case maybe we lose to them this week as well. Losses to them and likely semi finalists England and India across nine matches if they win enough of their other games, wouldn't be the end of the world.

Yeah, it would. Realistically to make the playoffs you are going to need to win at least five of your nine games. Six will guarantee you a berth but you can get in with five and a good net run rate. South Africa are lucky that they haven't lost by large margins. However, they have still lost two games and can only afford to lose one more in the whole tournament. If they lose to India, they probably need to win eight games in a row to be world champions. If they have a loss in there, then they will be relying on some big wins. South Africa are already at $5.50 to even reach the semi final.

Then again, if teams knock each other over ala Pakistan v England and this becomes an even tournament, stranger things have happened.

Has there ever been two centuries in the losing innings and none in the winning one? You normally feel a bit hard done by when someone gets a ton and you lose, so how must England feel after getting two and still failing to chase down the total.
