Trade for Leonard has to be one of the great gambles in American sports history.

    Klay did his ACL. Fuck.

Warriors next year will be fascinating. Transition from superteam to underdog in less than a year.

They had so many miles on the clock over the last few years, and with bench depth dwindling, these guys broke down. So no Klay or KD to start next season. Maybe no Boogie either

But if KD goes then at least they will have a bit of cap room. Should be able to find a decent enough third wheel to support Curry and Draymond.

The problem comes when they have to rely on Livingston and Iguodala, who now have way too many miles on the clock.

Nope. If KD leaves they will have no cap room Unless they pull off an impossible sign and trade.

    Onions baby, onions.

(As Chuck Swirsky used to say. Maybe still does?.)

Rumours abound that Washington is offering Ujiri a contract for $10-million per season.

(Edit. Now hearing on ESPN that offer is $60-million for six years and a stake in ownership. Eye-popping if true.].

Oh, and speaking of onions, did Masai Ujiri really punch out a cop on the court minutes after his team won the championship??!! I want to see the video.

Police confirmed Friday morning that they are pursuing a misdemeanor complaint against Raptors president Masai Ujiri for battery of a police officer.

ESPN reported that he tried to get on the court after the final whistle and didn't show the deputy his accreditation despite being asked (apparently the police were given strict instructions to check for accreditation). Ujiri tried to push through, officer pushed back, Ujiri pushed and got him in the face. All a bit silly really

10M USD and a reported ownership stake. WSH are a dead cert dumpster fire though, John Wall has a longterm injury and an onerous contract, lots of overrated players on inflated contracts. Still 10M is 10M. It remains to be seen what kind of counter-offer Toronto are willing to make. If they can keep Kawhai by re-signing Ujiri they have to do it

Head-scratching statistic about the NBA/NHL post-season — home teams in the combined finals series went 3-10.

Is ESPN reports wrong then? Offer is only for a one-year deal?

Cannot see MLSE who own Raptors giving anybody an ownership stake. Their biggest cash cow is their hockey team — the contract for the hockey coach about 5 years ago was $50 million for 7 years, so they can certainly put up lots more cash for a GM who won a championship. But being that Leafs are their star property, I can’t see them ever offering a stake in ownership, that would open a big can o’ worms and Leaf reps will demand the same. I can’t see it happening, so Ujiri will almost certainly walk. Unless it’s only for a one-year deal in DC. I suspect they’ll have to offer him many guaranteed years.

    Celebrating Canadian style:

Most painful celebration since that dude threw himself into the crowd at NY 2000 in Gisborne and the crowd got out of the way.

The New Orleans Pelicans have agreed to a deal to trade Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks – including the No. 4 overall in 2019 Draft.

Lakers still have room to sign another max free agent. One super team ends (Warriors) and the next super team is born (Lakers).
