A good win for my club Te Rapa over Pirongia. A rare win and means a win against Putaruru will mean we will be top seed for semi final. Putaruru have improved since we beat them so it should be a great game. A big day for the club next Saturday with all teams at home and the Clydesdales Presidents celebrating 40 years.

Probably one of the worst midfield combos in NZ playing Club Rugby this weekend.
-
@Canes4life Apisai on the bench...
-
@KiwiMurph interesting, you would think he would concentrate on improving his scrummaging.
-
@KiwiMurph Both of the Ories props are wiley experienced players (won't use the word veteran but thats what they are) both of whom have spent time with Wellington Lions contracts. The Norths team are bound to have similar props in their lineup as well. It might be prudenbt to place Fidow out of the firing line, so to speak, when those sort of players are involved!
-
@Higgins Whetu Henry is a dinosaur, Fidow is a promising Hurricanes prop that needs to be learning his trade, and what better environment to do so - away from the spotlight. I think Wellington Rugby should be ensuring he gets as much game time in the 3 jersey as possible if they want to develop him into a world class tight head. Same goes with Xavier Numia, I see they've got him as a reserve tight head when his best propping side is loose head.

Post in the ABs thread re Karl T getting a run for Takapuna tomorrow in the quarter final vs Massey. Also of interest is the man named at number 6.....the one and only Adam Thomson.
Watched Taka play last week against my Northcote side (good guys won) but will prob pop down again to see the above two players in action
-
@Canes4life It could well be that this might just be the two starting props final games for Ories, especially Whetu, so they could well be giving them the accolade of starting in their final games.
-
Finlay Christie might be playing for Pukekohe along with Sam Henwood.
-
I haven't heard anything yet. If he is going to Blues, a good chance he might sign with Counties. Jonathan Taumateine is still there as far as I know and Liam Daniela was announced as being signed to a contract.
He is Pukekohe boy but if still at Ta$man he should really play there.

-
@Canes4life bit of a lemon on the bench though.

So popped down and saw a great game of rugby. Takapuna winning 23-22 with a try converted from sideline (off the post even) with 2 mins to play. Massey had tavita Li on one wing and mark talea (brumbies ?) on other wing.
Both Karl T and Adam Thomson played full games and played well. Funnily my son and I sat down by a lass who turned out to be Adams partner so got all the details about why he’s here and playing. Apparantly has something lined up in the US but it’s on hold so while in NZ he’s keen for some rugby. Got 20mins last week and then after today’s effort should also play next week in the semi final. May be here a while yet by the sounds and could be available for harbour. Hasn't played a lot of rugby since the spine infection (I think 18months off in total and almost 6 months in hopsital) but clearly still has it. Ruthless in the breakdown, useful in lineouts and took almost all the kickoffs although made a clean spill of one. Heard a loud call of 'FINE!!' from behind me in the crowd when it happened.
