@Snowy no i didn't see it. Sounds like Williams is all of a sudden an amazing ref though eh. Look, if you were standing still and decided to start running forward, what's your first movement? Step back to push off, right?

I said that I wasn't going into it again! Williams just said that he hadn't moved forward so they couldn't charge.

Well that's bullshit, if a guy is standing still, aiming up, then begins moving and fucks about on his run up it shouldn't be up to interpretation of at what stage he begins "advancing". You're not getting into it... You brought it up you fluffybunny!

@Bones Take it up with Paul, or whatever ref. I thought that they were always right?

I agree that the fucking about before kicking is shit.

They don't normally get close enough to knock the ball over though. I do see your point - if the kicker moves it's time to charge - but it isn't the law.

    I'm done.

Someone should find a gif of Jantjies' kicking routine because that shit would be better on a dance floor.

Glad you're done, because oddly enough 99% of the time, your interpretation of it is not in line with how the law is applied.

@Bones Referees and law interpretations are the bane of the game.

Ha, ha. You going to the world cup as a ref? Paul Williams is.

Your one example of a ref making a mistake isn't exactly going to change the world of reffing fella. Nor going to stop guys charging when the kicker starts to move, which is good.

Made me think, has anyone on here charged down a conversion orbeen charged down?

In a real game with appointed refs?

    Videos of charge downs?

I can't remember any real time. Can remember sprinting like a mad man hundreds of times though.

The days before tees it was on if the ball fell over

It's a rare anomaly, the conversion charge down. Surprised it's still a thing - but don't want it to go away

@Siam seen it plenty. More often you might get a slight deflection, or at least apply pressure on the kicker. I'm actually very surprised you don't think you've seen it...

Edit: of course I've no comment on the direction of Mehrts first step of his kicking routine...

Now that the topic is dead; any kicker that pauses and then makes a movement should be considered addressing the ball. They'd quickly adjust.

    @Bones I'm old

I remember finger tips or stretched hands deflections, but only too close in front. I remember a fingertip before the ball went over and through, and the ref and all having a bit of a talk about it - no 2 points. Perhaps a few spastic kicks that weren't going over anyway?

Now my brain is trying to fill the gaps with imaginations but I still can't remember toooo many. say 4 or 5. I don't think I played enough adult rugby seasons either.

But yeah, I'd forgotten about the pressure bit, and I always kicked!

    i can't remember shit, Bones.

Have you got any yourself with those skinny white wheels?😉

This is the main reason for it I would think.
