    Saw Ad Astra last night, should have been my sort of film. Was just dull, but pretty. Kind of like Pitt really.

    Which I had seen Rambo, but it was the wife’s turn to pick.

    Life. Encapsulated.

    Annabelle: Creation

    Watched this on Netflix and thought it was pretty well done. For scary movies less is definitely more, if you leave a lot to the imagination then it can be super creepy. Cheesy shots of some demon looking creature ruin it for me a bit. For the most part this movie does that well and there’s plenty of pretty intense scenes.

    Rambo Last Blood, or Taken - Mexico, or Home Alone with deaths and tunnels, or Rambo please be true and this be the Last Blood.

    What a terrible movie to finish off the series. This is a 1/5 for 90% of the movie and then a 4/5 for 10%.

    A big problem is it's slow, like really slow at the start, and by start I mean the first hour. It takes ages to get to the decent action. If Liam Nesson was involved the movie would have been over in 20 minutes.

    @taniwharugby Please don't think of me as an IMDB reviewer, I went in with the same criteria as you ... it failed.

    If you don't mind spoilers I'll tell you the good 10%:

    :::

    The end, the last 15 minutes is all you need to see. It has great cartoon violence.

    :::

    I think I preferred that NZ netflix movie ... I think. 😕

    Just saw Downton Abbey - The Movie with Mrs Meldrew.

    Dunno if Downton Abbey is anyone's thing on here but it's great fun. Didn't try to be pretentious or clever, there were no plot twists or turns and it was very predictable - which actually made it really enjoyable.

    Oh, and Maggie Smith delivers one-liners that Stallone & Schwarzenegger can only dream of.

    Don’t you dare call Taken a b-movie.

    How about Taken 5.

    You know, the one where they kidnap the budgie.

    Nah. That's Taken 7 where Neeson uses his special skills to rescue his togs from a terrorist-virus-infected Samsung smart washing machine.

    Taken 9 - based on a true story.
    Loses his keys and accuses his mrs of taking them .
    2 days later wife finds them in her handbag and husband hasn't been able to go out and buy beer for 2 days, so makes a coat out of her.

    Saw Rocketman, from the same director as the Queen biopic(?), the film was much more theatrical, filled with fantasy sequences and musical numbers. I enjoyed the story, Taron Egerton was excellent, as was the guy from Billy Elliot who played Bernie Taupin. Elton overcame a pretty shoddy loveless childhood, I thought the film tried hard to relay the inner torment he suffered through for much of his early and midlife. 4.5 crocodile rocks out of 5 jewel and feather encrusted headpieces

    @canefan And little Richie Cunningham's daughter as Reggie's mum. I thought the movie was great.

    I think Taron Egerton is a good chance to do what Rami Malek did the year before.

    I thought Taron had an opportunity to dive in deeper into Elton and he did so brilliantly

    Loved Rocketman

    Just saw Ride like a Girl and I cried like a Girl (probably can't say that these days)

    Also enjoyed Richard Says Goodbye recently

    @canefan They have been friends since appearing in Kingsman 2 together so Egerton was able to speak to EJ and read his diaries which he used as insight about EJ the person rather than all the details about what he did in his life. He also did all of his own singing.
