Its 1965 and the british music press think they have their own version of Dylan in Donovan . The two of them catch up in a hotel and Donovan busts out a a song. Its pretty good , then Dylan gets the guitar and if you pause at around the 3:22 mark I think you can actually see Donovans soul being crushed by the realisation he is not now or ever will be as good as Dylan

@Nevorian That sounds remarkably like Tears for fears - "Everybody wants to rule the world" at the beginning. Even more remarkable is that I heard her sing - the visuals were rather nice in a dirty old man kinda way.

The whole backing sounds like that song.
So much so that I would guess it is deliberate and credited.
    The structure hardly differs.

    Apparently yes:

If it sounds a little familiar, it's because the song cleverly samples Tears For Fears' Everybody Wants To Rule The World, modernising the 1985 classic into a sleek little indie pop tune.

These dudes have been together for 50 years now. I can't think of any other band that has lasted so long without any personnel changes for one reason or another.

ZZ Top were the first major international band I saw live back in 1987. The crowd at Western Springs was reported to be ~80,000, which at that time was the largest ever for a concert in NZ.

Roger Nichols and Wendel: The Pioneer of Digital Drum Replacement

Story goes... One day in 1978, Donald Fagen of Steely Dan was not happy with the drum tracks they were recording. So he turned to his engineer and said, "Can't you make a f---ing machine that would be perfect?" Roger Nichols said, "So, ummmmm... Sure!" And that's how a "robot drummer" named Wendel was born.

    Welcome back Terrence

TTD at his peak was an amazing voice.

Those guys sound like they have raided Otis Redding's grave and found a portal back to 926 E McLemore Ave, Memphis in 1962
Love the sound but almost everything is a direct copy. The voice (and vocal affections) of Otis, the guitar of Cropper, the bass of Dunn. I'm surprised they haven't got Booker T to do some keys.

Done very well though, which other imitators have failed at.

@Crucial it's a very fair point. But i love this type of music. Otis Redding is dead. These guys are not, and are making new stuff. All power to them.

Don't get me wrong, I like it. If I hadn't seen the video and just heard this playing I would have been diving on the web searching for some new remastered release from Stax that I hadn't picked up on.

Just been channel surfing with Mrs Boo and landed on The Seekers 50th anniversary concert(s) on Foxtel 806 (Smooth).

Took us both back to the early 70s ...

And jeez just how awesome and how effortless was Judith Durham? Faaark she was good. She still is in her 70s.

And by the way, any pop group with the lead dude (Atjol Guy) who plays a double bass is ultra cool.

Have I said how fucking awesome Judith Durham's voice is? Fuck she is cool.

Also, their banjo player, Bruce Woodley, wrote I am Australian which I'm kind of jealous of in terms of inclusivity. That should be how NZ is. Cool song.
